This is the traditional weekly thrift and bargain finds list.
***Attention please!*** Based on information from the following thread, http://www.boardgamegeek.com/thread/462376 This list and all future thrift find lists are officially closed to RPG items. If you wish to add an RPG related item, please use Outside the Scope of BGG as your item, and add appropriate links and photos to the RPG item in question. Hopefully this will be a temporary situation until additional functionality can be added to Geek do as a whole.
These lists may start empty but as always: add your items.
Put in what you consider a bargain, tell us how much you paid and the place you got it from. Bargains can be thrift store finds or any second-hand purchases or discounted boardgames/RPG's bought new. Don't forget to add your encounters with the Thrift Store Irritant Squad™ and any other embellishments in order to make it even more interesting.
Our GeekGuild: The Ancient and Loyal Order of Thrifters. Enter the halls of thriftdom at your own risk. Do mind the stacks of prized games. Don't mention the musty smell and try not to sneeze. Be sure to bow before our King Minionhunter I, and pay your due respects to previous Kings Krazygit I, EvilTimmy I and Blackwind I. http://www.boardgamegeek.com/guild/193
Someone local has been trying to ebay the same "VINTAGE RARE" games for months. For example, they have Dark World in shrink but not mint for only $200. I knew it wasn't worth remotely that much, but when I found a copy at VV today I figured I cold get something for it. It's almost complete; I'm only missing three of the basic heroes' weapons and one monster base, and maybe some other inconsequential pieces.
And I found this, too. My VV almost always uses elastics instead of tape, but they were apparently daunted by the size of these two. With admirable restraint they only taped two sides (and I did slice it before buying). This is complete, though one figure has a broken base and there are a few broken flags. It's a good thing I got both games, because the Dark World dice were in this, and one of the orcs from this was in Dark World.
These boxes really are pretty big, though. Red wizard needs shelving badly!
I used to play this game to my friends house. We'd have to use a big part of the basement because of the map. It was so great shooting the cannon and move the ogre!

I was starting to have withdrawals: I hadn't been thrifting in over a week!
Tonight, on the way to dinner, SuperKim and I stopped by the local Goodwill.

I think this has to do with supply and demand - a lot of supply lately has make the price go down. Perceived scarcity was lost. That guy from Malaysia should have timed it better, though he was probably greedy and/or in a hurry.
Found this at Mesa Thrift this evening for 99 cents; it was marked down from $2.99, but I don't remember seeing it on the shelves the last time I was in. Complete and in excellent condition, with but one small corner ding. It even included the instruction sheet; the rules bandits must be on vacation.
Also at Mesa Thrift for 99 cents, marked down from $1.99. Contents are all still sealed in the original bags, board sounds like it has never been unfolded, and box is in nearly perfect condition. Also includes Megacheckers. I take exception to the text on the front cover. Among other claims, this bills itself as a "Party Game." What kind of party has only three people? Edit: Not the edition pictured, so you can't actually see the text that I am mocking. I'll add a photo
Actually a boxed set of Rolemaster source books, maybe 5 or 6 in total, so the contents of the original box plus one or two extra books, along with a Dragonlance module. $1.99 at Salvation Army.
And I had $1.10 on me. And I wasn't that keen on any more RPG stuff.
So I returned to work and told my co-worker & fellow 'Geek pepelegit about my find. He beetled over there right after work...but it was gone.
I checked again the next day -- nothing. Three's the charm, though, as pepelegit made one more pass and located the box that had been picked up and dumped in the sports gear section. Persistence paid off, but the question of the day was "who goes to the thrift store without any money, anyway?"
Another incomplete one of these at Valu Thrift for $2.19. Maybe I can put together a complete one now. On the up side I found a PXL2000 for $3.69. It had corroded batteries in it but I was able to take it apart and clean it up and now the motors work Still messing with the video output though...
Aw man, my parents owned this and no-one in the house got beyond about the third move in game. It just terminally bored us all. I'm sure it's great, but it's still the butt of "if you don't decide what to play, we'll just play Campaign!" threats for us, decades later.
The naysayers say it is too luck dependent, but there is a splendid variant on the 'geek which I think solves this. You're left with a very good light game IMHO.
Found in mint condition - I think. Does anyone have an inventory list for this? I don't know if I have all of the event cards. $1.99 at GW. This will go on the trade pile.
Went out thrifting on Sunday, but didn't have the chance to post before now...
Altogether the pickings were pretty slim, but almost right at the end of the second flea market (at the first one I only bought a children's book), I got
Hase & Igel, Ravensburger, the edition with the music cassette. All in great condition for 2,- EUR!
I was already on my way back home when I decided to check out another (small) flea market. It looked very bleak, but I got some felt markers for drawing comics for a very reasonable price, and ...
No, there is no need to change those items that were already posted to the list. They remain. It is just additional RPG items that can't be added. Those will have to be "Outside the Scope".

I enjoy this much more then the Catan board game. I think you'll like it.

....snip... One suggestion for you Paul. Could you start a fresh thread with your poll on the RPG side? As it is, only someone who is subscribed to that particular thread is going to see it. Perhaps you should also put a link to the poll in the Secret Santa geeklist itself.
It is on the RPGG side only. Given I have all nope we don't want to see it on the answers i am certain the RPGGers are weighing in. What is interesting is our Guild is in both places.
So *MWhahahaahaha* whether they like it or not, I'm the First Citizen of their Thrift State as well! To the Gulag with them! Reeducate them on community! Reeducation is never easy (on the one being reeducated).
Voluntarily pulling out of not cross-posting the content will help them; hopefuly the developers will find a suitable solution in short order. Unfortunately, I think human nature will have this valuable cross-posting not happen anytime soon.
Imagine the confusion when they start listing thrifted pirate hats and black shiny clothes used in LARPing.
