The Secrets of Lendore Isle: An Introductory D&D Mini-Campaign of Top-Rated Modules

This brief list was inspired by a couple comments on GROGNARDIA about the placement of well-regarded modules near the town of Restenford, detailed in L1 The Secret of Bone Hill. It struck me that this underrated module could be the base setting to kick off a rather awesome campaign featuring several of the greatest modules of all time. As we played through these modules, I tied together the smugglers (U1) and the cult (N1) into a broader slave ring that is leading the party into the next phase of the campaign.
Depending upon the interests the party displays while exploring Restenford and its environs, the DM could take the campaign in a number of different directions, each also featuring top-rated adventures. If the party seems keen on sandbox-style exploration, then have them find the treasure map that leads them to the Forbidden Isles campaign. If the party prefers discrete missions, then continue with the Adventurers-for-Hire campaign. Finally, if they like epic plots--perhaps they did U1 through U3 or L1 and L2--then maybe they should launch into the massive epic Return to the Temple of Elemental Evil.
Do you have any "hacks" for this versatile town? Feel free to add your ideas to this list.

The Secret of Bone Hill (download) details the town of Restenford and the surrounding area on Lendore Isle, which serves as the basis for this mini-campaign. Many reviewers feel this module is underrated; of particular interest is GROGNARDIA's retrospective. DMs may want to follow L1 up with its sequel, L2 The Assassin's Knot (download).

A comment on GROGNARDIA recommends placing U1 The Sinister Secret of Saltmarsh (free text and maps) in Restenford on Lendore Isle. This is quite easily done, since U1 calls upon the DM to detail the town of Saltmarsh herself; L1 provides that detail, requiring only a few adaptations. In my campaign, I've placed the haunted house to the east of Restenford, just off the map in L1. Replace some of the rumors the party might hear in Restenford with a few hints about the haunted house, make one of the undetailed fishermen or farmers into the poacher, replace "Town Council" with "Pelltar," and you're set.
Play can potentially continue with modules U2 (free text) and U3 ($16).

While the keep in this module is located near mountains, the Caves of Chaos, the centerpiece of the module, really could be placed anywhere. One clever DM plopped them near Restenford in the depression between a circle of hills northwest of Restenford. Find a place for the hermit and put the mound of the lizard men somewhere off the map, and you've got 80% of this module within striking distance of L1.
The highest rated adventure module for low level characters here on GeekDo, the Keep on the Borderlands isn't free but is still one of the cheaper modules, costing only $3 on Amazon.com. This adventure tended to be tough for 6 to 10 PCs under B/X D&D, but a small party of PCs built under a a later edition should be able to survive.

Using Restenford as Hochoch, this module is an easy add-on to this mini-campaign. The PCs can hear rumors of the beleaguered Orlane while in Restenford and then potentially choose to begin this adventure with a short overland journey to the village.
