Recently I was made aware of the kickstarter.com website were anyone can start a project that hopefully will be funded by friends and complete strangers.

I thought of starting this geeklist with all the RPGs that need funding over at kickstarter.com.

Feel free to add anything of interest that you find.

Consider this geeklist closed It has been running for nearly two years and keeping track/finding stuff became difficult. Instead post here: Kickstarter RPG Projects - 2013

Void Vultures

Quote:

Void Vultures is a pick-up-and-play science fiction roleplaying game in which you play "salvage experts" picking apart dangerous derelict space stations to keep your home township alive. Play is quick, fun, and light; you can clear a derelict in an hour or two, or take on a behemoth over the course of a few hours.

Our new system, Rülsleit, makes tactical combat zip by in a storm of bullets, mutant talons, and explosive decompression. Play as a mercenary Marine, a tough-as-nails Reaver, a harried team Commander, savvy Recon, or tech-wizard Engineer. The game is designed to emulate cinematic firefights—less strike-parry-dodge and more cover-aim-fire—in a tight, elegant package.

Void Vultures comes in a few parts:

The core book, Rüls of the Void, will weigh in at a mere 24 pages, packed with explosive gameplay. Backers can check out the document in development and participate in the playtest; all feedback is welcomed! Rüls of the Void is FUNDED.
The first companion book, Derelicts of the Void, will fill your mind with another 24 pages of lootable—er, salvageable—derelicts, each with their own special challenges in extracting its resources. Derelicts of the Void is FUNDED.
The second companion book, Horrors of the Void, will invade your brain with 24 more pages of off-the-hook options for your salvage experts themselves and the terrible threats they face. Play void vultures with mind-bending Psi powers or augmented with powerful Cyber. Confront the treacherous Void Syndicate or quail before the New Solar Order. Horrors of the Void will be released as a backer-only sourcebook if the kickstarter reaches $1500!
Additionally, if this kickstarter reaches $1500, Void Vultures will be fully ransomed, with Rüls and Derelicts freely downloadable for all. Our loyal, generous, and very appreciated backers will become the only source for the awesome and terrible powers detailed in Horrors of the Void.

So shrug into your power armor and charge up your gauss guns, because there's loot out there waiting for you. Your backing brings Void Vultures closer to being freely available to the world, and you closer to the secrets whispered only in the deepest corners of the void…

Game has been funded, but if they make their secondary goal of $1500 they'll make the game free for all, with exclusive expansion for backers.

Funding ends on 01 Nov 11.

Mortiston, USA is a rpg supplement written by Mark Cookman, the author of 365ZED. Part of the package is a 72 page book detailing 29 locations and 19 people in a generic small town during the first 111 days of the Zombie Apocalypse. Unfortunately, all the people of Mortiston are likely going to end up dead, a zombie or worse. You see, there are no HEROES in Mortiston. There is no one to protect even those extraordinary folks who were able to survive Z-Day from the horror that is coming. In 111 days only the dead and the damned will walk the streets of Mortiston, USA. Unless someone steps up to do something about it.

The book contains stats for all the characters, henchmen and faction troops. It is licensed for use with Outbreak: Undead, Savage Worlds, Traveller (Mongoose) and OGL Modern.

The book is not really the coolest part of the package though. James Miller of Scrying Eye Games is working on the art and maps. The book is going to come with a folding roadmap and bunch of other goodies. If we can get it published, that is.

Please check out our Kickstarter: http://tinyurl.com/5wnvluy

Funding amount needed: $4962.00

Kickstarter ends on December 4th at 11:55 PM

Thanks for your consideration.

Quantum Roleplaying Game

Quote:
The Quantum Roleplaying Game™ is Infinite X Studio™'s first game. The game is a reflection of more than 30 years of RPG gaming and nearly 10 years of writing and game design on the part of Infinite X Studio's founder and President, Joshua J. Frost. Josh's passion for gaming and RPGs in particular is hard to explain in words (and much easier to explain by watching his hyper exuberance during a game session) but know that he wants Infinite X Studio to produce only the highest quality, best-designed, and most enjoyable RPGs possible. It is our dream that we can reach out to both seasoned and new gamers with this project and help us raise enough money to bring the Quantum Roleplaying Game to hundreds of game tables around the globe.

The Play's The Thing

Quote:
The Play's The Thing is a storytelling game about actors who want to rewrite the Shakespearean roles they've been given.

You and your friends tell the story of an acting troupe that is scheduled to perform a new play, but has a lot of disagreements about how that play should go. While the Playwright might present you with a classic Shakespearean folio, you'll use your imagination and wit to craft new events and excitement in old stories.

Imagine:

If Ophelia never drowned…and killed Claudius herself.

If Romeo never met Juliet…but fell in love with Mercutio.

If Othello figured out that Iago was to blame…or secretly plotted to kill him first.

In The Play's The Thing, one player takes on the role of the Playwright, the writer and director of the Play, and the rest of you portray Actors (Hams, Leads, Villains, and Ingenues) who are cast in roles. As you work your way through the Acts of the Play, you'll suggest changes that the Playwright has to incorporate into the work, making The Bard's stories even better.

Reclamation

Quote:
Reclamation—a post-apocalyptic horror RPG where players take on the role of dystopian heroes fighting to “reclaim” the shattered remnants of civilization from a world plagued by radiation and monstrous creatures transformed by the nuclear fallout.

Once published, Reclamation will be around 250 B&W pages of pure dystopian action, suspense, and intrigue! I realize that “color” pages are more desirable, but that would literally increase the price of the game from somewhere in the $20-30 range to $75-80. Besides, I personally believe that the B&W look complements the dark setting of this role-playing game. The money received from your pledges will of course be used to produce your custom deliverables, but they will also go towards paying artists to complete the giant order of pictures that I need to complete this 7-year project of mine. In addition to the other pledge awards, I will also let you know which pictures were “adopted” thanks to your pledges!

Quote:
Troll Lord Games is a well established company with a decade's worth of publishing experience. Our flagship game Castles & Crusades has been in print for 6 years. Out next big release for Castles & Crusades is the hardcover book, "Classic Monsters, A Monster Manual." From the book: The early days of gaming saw some of the most classic and amazing creatures. Weird beasties derived from the minds of people influenced by a genre of fiction that was in its prime, when fantasy truly meant the fantastic. Free RPG Day Shadowsfall Adventure

Quote:
Hi. My name is Dale McCoy, President of Jon Brazer Enterprises. As you may have heard, we will be detailing the Plane of Shadows for the Pathfinder Role Playing Game with a number of print releases in 2012. This line of books will be called Shadowsfall. One of the books we want to do is an adventure, and we want to give it away on Free RPG Day.

This adventure, Shadowsfall: the Temple of Orcus, serves as an introduction to the plane of shadows and is an easy way for adventuring parties on the material plane to have their first extra-planar adventure. The characters learn of a family’s disappearance and quickly discover they were dragged to the Plane of Shadows by a group of zombies that act surprisingly intelligent.

Homicidal Transients: A Comedic Rules-Light RPG

Quote:
You've played a thousand different roleplaying games before, but what winds up being the same thing time and time again? Your characters are almost always homeless and engage in altercations that usually wind up being life or death matters. Or, as it was simply put in a conversation on gaming: adventurers are usually some sort of transient murderhobo.

That's the core concept behind Homicidal Transients. You and your gang wander aimlessly and kill things to get their stuff. Sometimes it's just money, sometimes it's a bottle or two of booze, maybe some magic. Any way you cut it, the stuff is yours now, and it's time to move on to the next place that you can get stuff.

They Became Flesh: A game of God, Humanity, and the Fallen

Quote:
THEY BECAME FLESH is a tabletop role-playing game about fallen angels, right after the Fall. It is a game with two Game Masters, who control God and Humanity while players take on the roles of the Fallen— angels who loved humankind best and were punished by God for defending Adam and Eve. The Fallen are pushed and manipulated by God and Humanity, and every action leads them to one of three options: forsaking humanity and the Fallen to become Angels, forsaking God to become human, or forsaking both in the name of brotherhood.

It was a runner-up in the 2010 Ronnies— a 24-hour game design competition— and has been in development since.

It has been 300 years since the fall of the Empire of Unstoam. And all that have kept most going is their faith in the gods. Finally lands are being returned to normal, kings and lords have started expanding. Finally the land will be tamed and reclaimed after e fall that almost spelled the end of civilization. Finally the dark ages are over.

Goal: $35,000

Deadline: Nov. 25, 2011

As a side note, I'll be shocked to my core if this somehow gets funded, as it's currently sitting at a whopping $90 of pledges with 4 days left.

Streets of Bedlam: A Savage World of Crime + Corruption

Quote:
Bedford and Lamrose. Two sides of the same river. Two sides of the same coin. One, an affluent metropolis teeming with industry and aspiration. The other, a cesspool of crime and vice. Both dirty, both begging for the match that will set this whole city on fire.

Bedford and Lamrose. Locals call this place Bedlam. It's a fitting name.

Streets of Bedlam: A Savage World of Crime + Corruption is equal parts neo-noir, pulp detective fiction, and a bit of the ol' ultraviolence thrown into a cement mixer and poured on top a heap of nameless bodies no one will ever miss.

It's a modern urban setting full of despicable people doing awful things in the name of God, money, politics, or to pay off old debts. The stories shine light on the dark places of the human heart but it's about finding diamonds in the rough, about good people in bad situations. The heroes may have questionable means but they have good intentions.

Of course, you know what they say about good intentions.

The Game

Streets of Bedlam
is a pen-and-paper roleplaying game in which you play characters with histories, who've done bad things, who may do a few more, but who have a code they stick to, fuzzy though it may be, that guides them through life and allows them to make a difference. Everybody in this town wants something but your characters are aiming higher than most and maybe, just maybe, they'll do some good. At the very least, maybe they'll stop some bad from happening.

Written and designed by critically-acclaimed game writer Jason L Blair, the man behind Little Fears, Streets of Bedlam will be built around the award-winning Savage Worlds ruleset published by Pinnacle Entertainment Group.

Always/Never/Now

Goal: $1500
Quote:
You were the best. Underground, cyberpunk street samurai, burglars and breakers, agents of a mysterious spymaster with half a name, zero history, and a plan. He made the missions and you carried them out. You were the go-to crew for high-stakes break-in, dangerous ops, and impossible escapes. You fought the megacorps, the tyrants, the killers—all for the sake of making a better future, of beating the Technocrats at their own game of shaping tomorrow. You always won, never quit, lived in the now.

Until, eleven years ago, he disappeared…

Now he's back—back in trouble—and it's up to you to save him and maybe, along the way, change the world.

Background

Always/Never/Now is a storytelling game adventure that began as a gift to some of my favorite players—friends I'd gone to school with back when. It's an evolution of the home-made cyberpunk-action RPG we played back at the end of the 20th century, a series of adventures that were somewhere between James Bond and William Gibson in their action and intrigue. We devised a constellation of antiheroes for those games and a few of them really stuck with me, from the street samurai with the metal legs and the one-time-professional bodyguard with the metal arms to the the cat burglar with the reckless guile, in over his head. Always/Never/Now translates these characters into ready-to-play action heroes on a mission that stands to change their dystopian future forever.

In the end, I wrote so much for Always/Never/Now and devised so many little rules tweaks and alterations to Lady Blackbird that I wanted to share it all with the world. The trouble is, I only wrote much of it in the form of rough sketches and notes to myself. To turn this all into something ready for outside eyes requires time.

Bitdust The Roleplaying Game

Quote:
Earth is no more, it was made uninhabitable from centuries of nuclear warfare and bio-engineered plagues. Its survivors scattered across space, trying desperately to start anew. This is not how we imagined starting our interstellar age, but these are the cards we were dealt and, if anything, mankind is persistent.

Bitdust is a tabletop roleplaying game about stories in an interstellar future, one in which humanity along with countless other races are able to engage in travel to distant star-systems and far-flung regions of the universe.

Carmine: Truth in the Darkness

Quote:
We at Attention Span Games are working on the first expansion of our Carmine Role Playing Game. Back in May of 2011 we released Carmine: A Role Playing Game of Alchemical Fantasy, both online and in a number of stores in the Seattle area. Since then we have managed to sell through our first printing and move onto the second. Pretty much since the day we launched Carmine we have been working on the first expansion, Carmine: Truth in the Darkness. This expansion takes place 10 years later in the world of Carmine. Technology has advanced a degree, new breeds of Terrors have begun to populate the land (Terrors are the monsters that come from the void that surrounds Carmine.) and political climates have begun to change. We are hoping that, with your help, Truth in the Darkness will be the second success in the Carmine line.

_____________________________

When mankind left behind their old home to seek out new lands beyond the dark spaces between galaxies, they hoped to leave behind them the conflict and chaos that has been their heritage since they first spoke tales of their histories. However, it wasn’t as easy as that. Even amongst alien species, mankind still found cause to war amongst itself. Several decades before, the Sondak Federation worried about the growing power of the United Central Systems, a group dominated by humans genetically modified to have a much longer life span. As a result, they launched a war that waged for years tearing at both societies until finally they forced the UCS to accept humiliating terms in exchange for peace. The Sondak is complacent and unaware that the UCS is on the verge of finally seeking vengeance for the previous war. And in the churning wake of these two giants, all the races of the galaxy and the lives of many individuals shall be turned upside down. But the question is, whose vengeance is being sought? That of a nation’s? Or that of a single person?
