US - RPG Chain of Generosity

This is the United States version of the RPG Chain of Generosity. There are chains running for the following other regions:
CAN - RPG Chain of Generosity European RPG - Chain of Generosity AU/NZ Chain of RPG Generosity.
(if you want to add a brand new geeklist for your region, feel free)
Have a duplicate RPG item you wouldn't mind parting with? Want to give a cool RPG item to someone who wants/needs it? Then you're a perfect candidate for the RPG Chain of Generosity! Pioneered on the BoardGame side back in 2007, the Chain of Generosity concept is simple.
The official rules:
1. You must comment to the item in question indicating you wish to be in the drawing to receive it in order to be eligible to win.
2. If you win one, you MUST post an item of your own to give away in this fashion. If you don't like that idea, don't play. Please do not wait until you receive your win before offering a game of your own - its all about generosity.
3. Set a deadline of around 7 to 14 days for your item. State your deadline clearly when you offer the item up and stick to the deadline. One exception: if only one person has expressed interest in your item, you may extend the deadline up to 5 additional days. Stick to this second deadline (even one person who wants the item and will appreciate it will keep the chain alive).
4. Use the Geek Randomizer or some other fair method to draw a winner from those interested. You can use the 1customX{...} die roller to pick a name. For example, if three people (Tom, Dick and Harry) are interested in your item you can edit your post and insert a ROLL and use: 1custom3{Tom;Dick;Harry} to pick a winner.
5. In the unlikely event that no offers are made on your item within the deadline, add a sweetner to the offer. If even one person has expressed interest, you must honor that - do not replace the item if someone has expressed interest.
6. At this time, we are not allowing new chains to form. 8 Chains is a good number - we'll run with this for a while. If you have an item you want to give away as part of the chain of generosity, put yourself in an existing chain and if you win, you can extend the chain by offering your item(s) up. The idea is to keep existing chains going as long as possible!
7. Sender pays shipping, no exceptions. If you can't afford to ship do not participate (Media Mail here in the US will allow several books to ship anywhere in the US for under US$5).
Each person that lists an item (either a seed item or a continuation of an existing chain) will receive:
- RPGG +1 Chainmail of Generosity Participant
But please contact me for the chain microbadge. I find it hard to keep up with all chains at all times
Let's get the US chain going!

SEED: Helms Deep Chain
To start us off in the US, I'm offering up a set of 3 Advanced Dungeons & Dragons (AD&D) 1st Edition (1e) books. The original Player's Handbook, Dungeon Masters Guide and Monster Manual. All written by the man himself - Gary Gygax. Books are in nice shape - a bit of cover scuffing from use but not abuse. If you haven't seen the original AD&D from 30 years ago, this is a perfect time to get the set of core books.
This item is GONE! Steve was our big winner and hopefully will continue the chain.
Here is a pic of the three books you'll get:

SEED: The Spinward Marches
Since I have the books Dave's offering, I'm going to jump in with another 70s classic. This is a complete boxed set of Traveller first edition including the box. A friend gave it to me when it didn't sell at his garage sale. It is very lightly used.
Deadline: February 6, 2011 at 11:59 pm EDT
And the Winner is: sdonohue previously rolled 1custom16{AnthonyRoberson;Dog Boy;brumcg;cjbowser;dumwytgi;vestige;tutunaku;vaklam;markmeredith11;astinex;belirachc;pgharch;chaz donnell;undead viking;nyjastul69;e decker} = ( AnthonyRoberson) = AnthonyRoberson (And the winner is)
I'll be shipping once I get an address and then it's up to Anthony to continue the "Spinward Marches" chain.
Well. It's been 2 weeks tomorrow and I haven't heard from him, so Dave and I discussed it and we've decided to continue this chain by picking a new winner.
sdonohue previously rolled 1custom15{Dog Boy;brumcg;cjbowser;dumwytgi;vestige;tutunaku;vaklam;markmeredith11;astinex;belirachc;pgharch;chaz donnell;undead viking;nyjastul69;e decker} = ( markmeredith11) = markmeredith11 (is the winner)
I'll send Mark a geekmail and hopefully this chain will roll on.

SEED: StarSIEGE: Event Horizon Box Set AND StarSiege: Another Fine Mess adventure
CLOSED Next up...
I got these about six months ago and I just don't think I'll ever get any use out of them. I opened the box set and put the adventure in there (everything fits pretty snugly) so it's pretty much brand new apart from being lightly handled a few times and out of the shrinkwrap.
[edit] Oh, and if you want to see what it might be like before throwing your hat into the ring, the quickstart can be found here.
I'll be using the Geek Randomizer to determine where this ends up.
As this may not be quite as popular as some of the older and more recognizable stuff, I'll give this until February 9th, 8 AM-ish EST, for folks to chime in.
It would seem I can't use the Geek Randomizer in a List, but our winner is:

SEED: Fields of Glorantha
RuneQuest I (Mongoose Edition) I have moved on to RuneQuest II and previous editions (Chaosium), and have the core book and GM screen sitting around. This is a great game for running low magic "Steel and Sorcery" games, or running adventures in Glorantha. Books are in awesome condition (this was my reading copy), and waiting for someone to take them.

SEED: Save vs. Death Chain
This lot consists of two Advanced D&D modules from 1980:
D3: Vault of the Drow by Gary Gygax
&
Q1: Queen of the Demonweb Pits by David C. Sutherland III with Gary Gygax
They are in good condition with only minor shelf wear, being back-up copies I never ended up using.
Deadline for this lot: Feb 6th, 2011 at Noon PST.
Good luck to a good home!

SEED: OH, THE HORROR!(CLOSED) Go to Chad's item for this chain...
Mongoose Publishing skinned the OGL system for horror genre play. I've never played OGL Horror, but imagine it'll play like all d20 games. There are a few good bits to be strip-mined from this book, and, to sweeten the deal with further generosity, I'll throw in a copy of Brian Stableford's An Oasis of Horror: Deadline for these items: 7 February 2011 at 0800 EST.

SEED: The Blasted Heath
Howdy y'all. I'm offering three of my favorite books.
First, The Armitage Files, because who doesn't like strange documents?
Second, as I have contracted Jasper's evangelic zeal for Fiasco, I will be offering my hard copy. I am reluctant to part with it, but the Gospel must be spread!
Finally, just cuz I'm a nice homie, I'm offering my copy of Dogs in the Vineyard, as it is very unlikely to ever see play in my hands. I'm offering in the hopes that its new possessor lets it shine in the light of the gaming table.
Ok compadres, deadline is noon Mountain time on Friday, February 18.
CLOSED yay!

SAVE VS. DEATH CHAIN
A lot of two AD&D modules from the early 1980s.
G1-2-3: Against the Giants by the famed Gary Gygax
and
I3: Pharaoh by the awesome duo of Tracy and Laura Hickman
Both are in good condition.
Deadline is Tuesday, February 22 at noon PST.

CHAIN: Fields of Glorantha
Continuing the chain which I won! Up for grabs is a Star Trek Roleplaying Game from Last Unicorn Games. This is the now out of print core rule-book from 1999. The book is in excellent condition except that the covers and spine have started to come apart - it's been repaired and is in perfectly serviceable condition. It's a fantastic book - when I bought it new it came with the aforementioned separation of cover and spine and when I contacted the company I bought it from they said to 'keep it and we'll send another'. Sure enough they did and I've been waiting to pass this copy along.
Post a comment below if you're in the US and would like this core book (the only book you need to play the game).
Closed Friday, Feb 18th... The winer was Kyle!

CLOSED - CHAIN: Helm's Deep
Continuing the chain so kindly started by Sir Wavemotion. I'm offering two of 2nd edition AD&D's best settings: the core Al-Qadim book and Ravenloft: Realm of Terror, the very first incarnation of this as a campaign setting...maybe a consolation to any lamenting the cancellation of the 4E version:
The Al-Qadim book is in excellent shape.
Edit: The Ravenloft item is incomplete: it contains the book, maps, overlay, and cardstock sheets - all the game contents - but NOT the box itself.
The deadline is 9 pm Pacific time, Feb. 23!
And the winner is (see the roll thread)... vestige previously rolled 1custom4{brumcg;edige23;tutunaku;cjbowser} = ( tutunaku) = tutunaku (helm's deep winner #2)
Congrats to Mario!

Chain: OH, The Horror
Continuing where Jasper left off, I thought I'd offer up a like-new copy of the core Call of Cthulhu rules v 5.6 in hardback. The binding is still tight, I don't think I've ever opened it and no corners are bumped.
For those who might not be aware, v5.6 is exactly the same as v6.0 rules wise. There were some layout changes between 5.6 and 6, but nothing changed as far as the rules are concerned.
It will be coming from a smoke-free home.
I'll close this listing on February 21 at 8 AM EST.
We are now closed.

CHAIN: Star Siege
A player's copy of the boxed set (the player's intro, The Complete Troubleshooter is a photocopy, and the die I don't think is original).
Also including: Paranoia Excessory Pack, which includes the GM's screen, one of each form, and the Cardstock Commmies.
If I find any other second edition Paranoia stuff at Orccon that I already have I'll throw that in too
Will resolve this some time after Orccon -- probably on 26 February 2011 when I get up. I'll take entries up until that point.
Edit: No luck at Orccon -- only saw two Paranoia items in toto and neither were for this edition.
Edit 2: I'm up. Last Call! I'll roll the dice by noon PST.
Edit 3: We have a winner! Congrats to

Somehow I ended with an excess copy of the Dungeon Tiles Master Set: The City so I'd like to offer that up in the list. It is brand new and still in the shrink wrap. Deadline for this one will be February 22nd (my oldest son's birthday).
As an aside, I chose the name because I'm a fan of the Thieves World stories.
Best of luck,

This set has some issues, but it is (I think) complete and usable.
The box shows it's age. It has some sun damage. It wears it's 30 years of shelf life fairly well. The top left corner was ripped and poorly repaired with scotch tape. The chits have been punched, hence the (I think) it's complete. I haven't actually counted them. Other than that it's solid.
Here are some pics.
Oh, and by the way, there's a slightly used crayon, but no dice.
This offer closes on March 6th.
Edit: I will count the chits if asked.
And the winner is...

Hardcover, first printing, in nearly unused condition. I've flipped through and skimmed it. Has a lot of ideas for handling details martial arts in games beyond GURPS. A really nice sourcebook, but a little too detailed and crunchy for where I'm at right now.

CHAIN: The Spinward Marches
After talking to sdonohue about it, he said that there hasn't really emerged a theme with the last, since the Traveller Boxed Set falls into a lot of categories: A boxed set, something from the 70's, Sci-Fi, a digest sized book. Then it hit me: I've got a digest sized book (well, two) that I LOVE and want to share with the world! So, without further ado, I'm going to be adding to this chain the Burning Wheel!
I'll send out the two core books (Rulebook and Character Burner). They're not in horrible shape, but they are used. Perfect for anyone looking to play!
The offer closes March 10, which may seem like a long time, but it's my birthday!

CHAIN: OH, THE HORROR!
I have remarkably little horror in my RPG collection. Or books or movies. It isn't a genre I've explored much. So, an eclectic set, which may just decrease your sanity.
Savage Worlds Explorer's Edition - the item that actually might actually support your play of a horror RPG.
Dragon (Issue 156 - Apr 1990) - 1990 April edition with cover picture of a singing knave presenting violets to a beholder in eye shadow and lip gloss: Contains joke articles "of the era" such as this fragment -- Yet Even More [Gods Forbid] Outrages from the Mages Ring of Spell "Turning" This platinum ring, figured with a "T" rune, radiates a faint dweomer but displays no other capabilities under ordinary circumstances. When a spell is cast at or on its wearer by a hostile spell caster, however, the ring reveals it's true power. In a clear voice it says "Turning. Tee-you-arr-enn-eye-enn-gee. Turning." -- Clearly you must own this magazine.
Draconomicon - Admittedly, a 3.0 d20 product may seem a stretch, but I feel justified including it, as they saw fit to include in a book about dragons the Squamous Spewer, an evil, amorphous mass of scales, mouths, fangs and reptilian eyes. Not that much about it, but the name is enough for me.
If you want it I'll also throw in a Variant Cover 1st Edition DM's Guide. The condition of the cover might induce horor in some. It has a very worn binding, remnants of an old orange price sticker on the cover and purple where someone used a paint marker to outline Dungeon Master's head on the cover. I offer it because of the horror of it's condition, and worth taking if you've never read this seminal work of Gygaxian prose. No need to admit to whether you want it now, I'll let the lottery winner just tell me.
I'll keep this open until about 6 PM server time on March 11.
(Only a couple more days to go folks. Only two takers?)

Alright, friends. This one is something of a grab bag, a testament to how random my collecting habits have been.
Offered here are the D20 version of Call of Cthulhu, from my trend to collect as much Lovecraftiana as possible.

Chain: Helm's Deep
These two are dear to my heart.
First up is the game that brought me back into RPGs after an 11 year hiatus. I was in a hardcore Cthulhu Mythos collecting phase. Books, toys, board games, whatever. Somehow, I don't remember exactly, I stumbled upon Trail of Cthulhu. That was in 2009. I'm happily back in the gaming fold.
So how did I get on a collecting kick anyway? This:
My second offering is the Library of America selection of Lovecraft's short stories. I am a bibliophile, and a combination of presentation, wonderful paper, and Lovecraft's fevered imagination set the ball rolling.
Deadline is March 4th at noon MST.

CLOSED: Save vs. Death Chain
Time for me to step up again! Alas I have no vintage D&D modules to offer, so instead I'll put up a newer set from (one of) D&D spiritual successors: Paizo's Kingmaker adventure path. That includes:
Pathfinder #31: Stolen Land Pathfinder #32: Rivers Run Red Pathfinder #33: The Varnhold Vanishing Pathfinder #34: Blood for Blood Pathfinder #35: War of the River Kings Pathfinder #36: Sound of a Thousand Screams
These make up a set of linked adventures taking PCs from 1st to 18th or so level: the themes are exploration, kingdom building (complete with kingdom and mass combat rules!), and a very evil nymph. They are very good adventures - regarded by many as near the top of Paizo's set of adventure paths - but I am now playing through them, so I don't see myself ever running them!
This is obviously written for the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game, but it shouldn't be terribly challenging to convert to other editions.
If you want gobs more information, I've reviewed all of them here on RPGGeek (here is the first), and there are several session reports (mine here and MJ Harnish's 4E adaptation begins here).
So, who wants to be king (or queen)?
Edit: Oops, forgot to mention that the deadline for this one is Saturday, March 13 at midnight Pacific time.

I am putting up Run out the Guns!. This box set was published by Iron Crown Enterprises in the late 90s. So you want to be pirate or sail the high seas? Here is your chance.
Condition: - The contents are mint and unused. - The box is dished and one long edge on the lid is moderately crushed.
The box condition aside, this is virtually a new product and very usable.

Chain: Star Siege
My friends and I loved the 40k universe in the late 1980s and early 1990s; so much so, we'd hacked the Warhammer Fantasy Role Play rules to play Rogue Traders. When Fantasy Flight finally released the actual RPG Games Workshop had promised decades ago, I jumped on the pre-order as fast as a Harlequin moves to take on a Slaanesh Keeper of Secrets...
The nostalgia trip warped me a little, but the time has come to send the book back into the Immaterium. As before, I'm sweetening the generosity with a little extra; three little extras, actually.
I last painted miniatures around 1991, if memory serves. So these Citadel 25mm lead pieces were produced some time around then. Included with the Rogue Trader RPG will be an Eldar Aspect Warrior, Original Terminator with chain gun and grenade launcher power glove, and an Ork Boy in power armor:
So far on this list, I've seen some grand generosity. "Generosity" means it stings at least a little to give, y'all. That's a good test of value. That's a good test of generosity. You know when you're being generous...
