Georges de La Tour (March 13, 1593 - January 30, 1652) was an artist and painter, who spent most of his working life in the Duchy of Lorraine, which was absorbed into France between in 1641 and 1648. He painted mostly religious scenes lit by candlelight. After centuries of obscurity, he later became one of the most highly regarded of French Baroque artists.
A portion of his painting Cheater with the Ace of Diamond was used as the cover artwork for City Builder Volume 11: Underworld Places. He is listed as an artist on Spellbound Kingdoms.
Note: He should not be confused with Maurice Quentin de La Tour (1704-1788), an 18th century French Rococo portraitist.
