Ernest Gary Gygax (July 27, 1938 – March 4, 2008) was a game designer who is best known for co-creating Dungeons & Dragons (D&D) along with Dave Arneson and co-founding TSR with Don Kaye. As such, most of his own designs are in the area of role-playing games, but his influence extends to the entire nature of the modern adventure gaming hobby.
