[This] book provides a brief introduction to the fantasy world of Tékumel, and a "character generator" for rôle-playing games based on it. You will go from Section to Section, rolling dice and making choices as instructed. In addition to character-generation, each Section contains cultural notes together with a fictional biography of a "rolled up" character. You will note each result on your "Character Reference Sheet." This produces a very young character (aged fifteen or so) who can enter the rôle-playing game as a fully fleshed-out person, if you wish.
Part One: Growing Up in Tsolyánu provides a character generation system for the basic attributes and skills from birth to adolescence. A complete character can be developed using Part One: Growing Up in Tsolyánu by going through the lifepath system in the book several times (from age 15 until age 20.) Optionally, the player may take their character through some of the stories in the Part Two books to gain additional experience and skills.
The Adventures on Tékumel series of solitaire adventure books is designed to give the player an introduction to the culture of Tsolyánu and Tékumel in general. The player's character is developed as the player learns more about the setting. The solitaire adventures have simple combat and task rules and can be used without reference to the core rules (Gardásiyal).
