This series is a collection of well-known fan-made editions of published games — unofficial publications based on trademarked games without license or permission of the copyright holders.

These games re-edit and release previously published material while retaining some of the trade dress and trademarks of the original publishers.

This type of game may be contrasted with retroclones or simulacrum games, which use implements such as the OGL to re-envision or reverse engineer a earlier editions of out-of-print games without using any of the prior publisher's trade dress or trademarked material.
