Autoduel America is an alternate future setting developed for Steve Jackson Games Car Wars and GURPS Autoduel products. This version of America in the 2030s features a weakened federal government just getting back on its feet after the passing of peak oil, a devastating grain blight, widespread food riots, and the succession of large areas of the Western US.
Autoduel America is a place where deathsports and vehicular combat are tolerated, the majority of vehicles run on fuel cell technology, the primary source of protein is cloned algae, and defense is usually left to the individual. In many ways this setting resembles the Old West.
