Never give credit to conspiracy what can be much better explained as just rampant incompetence.

Eddy,

Here a couple things to try. Cross-post this over in the BGG regional forum, where others in your area might see it. Also, try Meetup.com. I've found a number of game groups in my area - boardgaming and rpg - thru that site. Good luck!

My wife and I are looking for a 4th edition gaming group as well but in the Geneva area in Switzerland.

I've tried Meetup.com mentioned above without luck. Also, on BGG Switzerland doesn't have a regional forum (how that is possible btw?)...

We've had some D&D 2nd and 3rd edition experience and we are complete beginners for 4th edition. We would like to join the group as players (worst case I could do some DM-ing as well).

Also, my French is quite poor so and English speaking group would be preferable.

Also, if anybody knows a website where the Swiss players gather in this area please let me know. I've tried googling it without luck.

You could always try searching on NearbyGamers; there's one match in the Geneva area. It's worth adding yourself to their database too, so future users can find you.

Try going to your local game or comics shop because the owner will likely know of the some groups

I wrote a post about this very topic on my Blog back in April, spurred in part by a thread here on RPGG, and in part by a twitter conversation I was having.

Here's a link to the post: How to Find a Gaming Group

There are several good suggestions on the post.

Good Luck!
