It really doesn't matter to me -- I think they are equally easy (or awkward) to read.

They're also both equally painful to step on in the wee hours of the morning. Or, anytime you're barefoot.

Neither - I use "cylindrical d4s". I forget who made them, but I got them many years ago. Mine look something like these, except mine are plastic and not as good looking as these wooden ones:

I too use neither, prefering the 8-sided d4. Its less useful as a weapon admittedly, but rolls in a way I find much more satisfying than spinning a D4...

I use a 12 sided Roman d4, found here: dicepool.com

I've always loved the numbers on the bottom because that's what I grew up with. I have a lot of d4s with the numbers at the top but I always feel dirty when I roll them.

Yeah, the 12 faced d4 is my favorite, too: perfectly readable, and it rolls for real!

I think I have 6 or 7 of them (white, light grey and dark grey with red numbers).

I went with 'on the bottom' because I still remember the AHA moment when I first saw one many years ago, and how neato it was that you could turn the thing any direction and the same number would be there. That seemed so cool when I was 12. The face that's "down" is really the one that's "up"! Wow!

But now that I've seen the light, I am going to obtain some of those 12-sided 4-siders. Those look awesome...

But do you prefer the pointy d4s or the chamfered d4s (slightly less painful on bare feet)? A plastic green chamfered d4 I've had for 28 years is the one I roll when I really need a 4.

I do like those d12 and d4 lozenges, though.
