The Score:
Jasper's former Agon group decided to try some Play by Forum Fiasco this year using the Geek Die Roller... Word got around and now there are 5 (?) Fiasco games happening in PbF here on the Geek.
A couple of us have decided that this series of tragic F-ups should be marked as the historical mess that they truly are, so to commemmorate, I'm awarding 50 (plus tips to this thread) to the Fiasco game that proves the most entertaining, to be divided up amongst its players as they see fit.
The Tilt
Here are the games currently underway. I suggest you subscribe to them, or check them out occasionally, or at least have the PbF module available on your front page so you can look them up.
Transatlantic - The Drop Bears Cults of New England. Fiasco Table #2 (Jackalopes) Touring Rock Band: FIASCO Table #3, Where Hogzilla Is BBQ Los Angeles, 1936. FIASCO Table #4 (Manipogo) Dragon Slayers - Fiasco Table 5 (Beholder) Toil & Trouble: FIASCO Table 6 State Prison: Fiasco Table 7 (Complete) The Bull: FIASCO Table #8 (Barghest)
Almost certainly another will pop up... (probably when 'zine notices this thread...).
All PbF Fiasco games that exist on 19/1/11 will be considered eligible for this competition.
In two weeks' time, I'll set up a poll so that RPGGeeks everywhere can vote on which Fiasco has proved to be the most entertaining. The thread with the most votes one week after that will be declared the winner!
Also, one lucky voter will win 10 just for getting involved with the PbF module!
Current pot: 300 - The tips keep on coming!
I just got back from my Games Night (we were playing Fiasco... to discover that an anonymous benefactor has provided another 50 to the pot for this one, guys! Give him/her a round of applause!
Fiasco - destroying the world one life at a time...

Well, that's one way to ramp up the crazy for this game. I guess my hope for the eventual "melancholy, thoughtful" session will have to wait.

40 geek gold added. That puts the pot up to 100, and we all know the biggest cluster f- (F does not stand for fiasco) all spiral out of control around a huge pile of cash. Plus, I think my jackalopes have what it takes to return my investment back to me. Now who is gonna go crazy-go-nuts enough to stop us?

This must be where I start plotting to steal the prize pot by starting a table with 3 aliases and paying some creative writing students in strange and wonderful mushrooms to ghost write the forum! It'll all go as smashingly as long as my room mate doesn't stop misting the shrooms we stole from the drug dealer down the hall before the contest ends or let on to dealer's sister that I've been hanging out with that blonde down the hall when I said I was in class...

And you think you need creative writing students...

I'm subscribed to a half dozen PbF Fiasco games... I can't log in without my subscription box overflowing, even if it's only been five minutes.
I'm not getting any work done this week, am I?

I'm front pinning this for a day or two to draw attention to it. I love seeing the level of activity in the Play By Forum module really cranking up (not just Fiasco but all manner of RPGs being played). If you don't have the PBF Module turned on for the front page, you should do so by selecting "Edit Front Page" which is linked in the title of the News Module.
Feel free to start additional games, participate in existing games or just kibitz.
EDIT: Game news forums won't stick in the news module so I had to move this to general RPGG News for a day or two to showcase it -- then I'll move it back.

Money money money!!!
Dragon Slayers - Fiasco Table 5 (Beholder) is underway. Our group is set up and our fun is beginning. Let's see just how screwed up a story can be made with a Barmaid Assassin who is after the Necromancer who brought back an intelligent Zombie who just happens to have a barbarian as his thrall who just happens to be in love with the Barmaid Assassin who just happens *CLANG*
Ouch!

If we can get all six tables past the 250 response marker, then I'll be happy. It's pretty arbitrary, but passing the number of posts we hit on the Agon thread would feel like progress for 'Geek PbF.

Indeed, "finishing" a game is a goal in most systems. For Fiasco, its a totally attainable goal. If we get some more donations, I'd like to see payouts for finishing the games to encourage this goal and keep people motivated.

Fiasco is a rather unique and interesting way of thinking in RPGs. Honestly, it's more about the story and roleplay than rolling dice. But instead of the dice controlling your actions and such, the dice you roll give you a bunch of things for you to interpret for your character.
It's highly recommended. ^_^

Ah, it's basically another version of the very cool card-system used in the SAGA games (Marvel Super Heroes Adventure Game, Dragonlance: Fifth Age).
Interesting. I prefer using the cards from Marvel to do this, however, in general.

After reading a bit more about this interesting game, I've realized that it only has partial ties to the way the SAGA cards in Marvel Super Heroes Adventure game can work and many more similarities to the card game, "Once Upon a Time."
Just like everything in life, nothing's really ever original.
If you like FIASCO you'll probably really love Once Upon a Time - though it has a tiny bit less structure due to a lack of dice.
