Edit: The drive is over. More than $5,000 collected! Thank you all!
I've found this on Story Games, and since the original poster is a RPGG member and a RPG designer, and the Geek community has an unbroken record of generosity, I thought I repost it here:

dissolvegirl wrote: This is my friend Karla. I’ve known her for years, since I lived in Alabama. She’s one of the sweetest, kindest, most inspirational people I know: she’s battled depression and become stronger for it, she’s raising her daughter on her own (and doing a fantastic job), she works hard for a church-run daycare and loves what she does. She doesn’t spend much money on herself, and she loves life more than most people I know. A month or so ago, Karla was diagnosed with Retinitis Pigmentosa. If you’re not familiar with this genetic disorder, it’s a condition in which pigment builds up in your eye, clouding the receptors, and makes RP sufferers blind somewhere in their 40s or 50s. There is no cure, and the only things that might delay blindness into her 50s are high doses of vitamin A, and wearing big dark sunglasses whenever she goes outside. Karla doesn’t do much for herself, as I said: she’s a single mom working at a church daycare and all of her money and energy go into her little girl. She's struggling to stay positive, and making a list of things she wants to do and see with her daughter before her vision worsens— many of which are nearly impossible in her current situation. On top of everything else, RP is genetic, and Karla is waiting to find out whether the same fate awaits her little girl. This breaks my heart, and I want to do something for them both. The Sight For Sore Eyes Benefit Bundle is a group of games and supplements donated specifically for Karla. At the very least, it will help her buy a pair of quality sunglasses that can delay her blindness for up to ten years; hopefully we raise enough to cross one of the more modest activities off of her to-do list. The games are: • Mars Colony, by Tim Koppang • Polaris, by Ben Lehman • Remember Tomorrow, by Gregor Hutton • Murderland, by Elizabeth Shoemaker • Perfect, Unrevised by Joe McDaldno— along with all the reference sheets • Geasa, by Jonathan Lavalee • And a special, bundle-only Apocalypse World character class: THE HOARDER, by D. Vincent Baker This bundle is only $10 for all six games, so please donate! This offer will only be for a limited time, and all funds go to Karla and her daughter. Also, if you could please spread the word at your favorite Internet haunts, I'd appreciate it.

Donated,
and let's be hopeful that the Scientists who are working on this genetic issue can come up with a correction so she will be OK. I am hopeful, as medical technology and science are doing a good job these days on things like ALS and MS. If it wasn't for medical Science I would be dead.
edit for good news: Future treatments may involve retinal transplants, artificial retinal implants, gene therapy, stem cells, nutritional supplements, and/or drug therapies.
2006: Stem cells: UK Researchers working with mice, transplanted mouse stem cells which were at an advanced stage of development, and already programmed to develop into photoreceptor cells, into mice that had been genetically induced to mimic the human conditions of retinitis pigmentosa and age-related macular degeneration. These photoreceptors developed and made the necessary neural connections to the animal's retinal nerve cells, a key step in the restoration of sight. Previously it was believed that the mature retina has no regenerative ability. This research may in the future lead to using transplants in humans to relieve blindness.[16]
2008: Scientists at the Osaka Bioscience Institute have identified a protein, named Pikachurin, which they believe could lead to a treatment for retinitis pigmentosa.[17][18]
2010: A possible gene therapy seems to work in mice.[1]

Thanks for spreading the word. I wouldn't have known about it, otherwise. For you guys that already donated: can you tell me if the PayPal button on the Story Game post sends you to the account to donate to? When I click it, it only lets me login, and then shows my account information, but it doesn't show me the account to donate to.

I will gm it to you.
You may need to donate more to handle the conversion of funds. and lets all hope the Japanese have a treatment this year.
Sorry about that I didn't really answer your question, yes after log in you go to a payment page to send money but you can not change it like to send more, after it says a confirmation has been sent to..."your paypal email address" if your outside the US I think it is a funds conversion issue.

Thank you so much for your support and generosity; Karla's going to be calling me in a few minutes, and I'll get to tell her that we've had over $1400 in donations in twelve hours. That is AMAZING.
If you want to tell your friends, spread the word on Twitter and Facebook, that's wonderful. You're making an incredible, significant difference in the lives of two wonderful young ladies, and I can't thank you enough.

This is a blatant example of frivolous spending.
I spent 100 geek gold and all I got was this lousy overtext.
-
I have to wait until I get home to donate, unfortunately. The Story Games site is blocked here at work.
Edit: And done!
