This thread can be used for in/out character discussions. When posting actions for your character please start with your characters name ...

I'll run over to the spring and dive in.
If making Out Of Character posts, please start with [OOC ...
Quote: [OOC I'm going to be out of town for the weekend]
I have given you the bare bones of your characters, do they know each other, are they best pals? Gleeful, morose? That's for you to decide.
And now for the story
Quote: Whatever drove you to invest the last of your credits in buying into the "New Horizon" project, it's too late to change your mind now. You lay back into the soft cocoon of the Low Berth. The door swings slowly shut and you can see the doors on other Low Berths closing through the glass porthole. You glance around the berth, it's clean. You've been in worse. There's a hiss as the sleep gas squirts into the berth...
Some time later you wake with a start. The door to your Low Berth is swinging open. Shaking the fog from you mind, you step out of the Low Berth onto the floor of the Berthing deck.
The light is dim. There are over 1000 Low Berths on this deck. Every Berth door is open. There are only four other people standing in the walkway with you. Odd. You'd expect everyone to step out, just like you did. Your standing in nothing but your underwear and starting to shiver. Low Berth decks are always chilly.

[OOC: I'm playing David as my older brother - let me know if that's a problem]
Laura
I stretch, checking all my extremities are still there. I swallow, trying to get the cotton-wool taste out of my mouth. I recognise the style of the army guys, then go to help David - he's not always the best traveller...
-
-
You pass an open Low Berth and note that the occupant is neither in the Berth nor standing in front of it.

"Huh? Usually all the corpsicles get up at the same time."
I look into the berth, to see if there's anything unusual in it.

David
Tumbles out of the low berth and makes no attempt to suppress retching.
"Be an architect of your own fortune, they said."
Wipes his mouth with the back of his hand dizzily.
"This is what happens when you don't let me fly."

The berth is clean, empty, and the readout indicates it is in complete working order.

I stand up, stretch, yawn, and then look around for my clothes and equipment before traveling further from my room.
[OOC if I see my gear I will start to get dressed and gather anything I can take with me. If not, I will go out into the hall and look around, just like everyone else.]

"Sister, is that you? Help me find my pants, and a breath mint. I think I've got sleep blindness. Why is it so damned quiet in here?
I confusedly search for my gear amidst a low berth hangover.

"Hey Davey, gotta find my own stuff first. Lockers are over there..." (waves to where the others are looking for their gear - sees that David isn't looking and starts to help him in that direction).
"Something's gone wrong with the wake-up - looks like they let us sleep in.
You didn't go into a Low Birth drunk, didya?"
-
-
You have no gear, only you and your underwear went into the Low Berth.
The following quote from the "New Horizon Prospectus", wafts into your collective memory.
Quote: On arrival at 0679AC5644555FG all colonists will be woken in batches of 100 and immediately transported to the surface. Elements of the crew will be on hand to guide the newly awoken to the appropriate ships boat."
At the end of the isle of Low Berths are your lockers (open cubby holes in truth, no locks in sight). Inside are your ship-board clothes and a few small personal items such as jewellery, watches etc (no weapons).
As each character reaches the end of the isle, roll 2D6 vs INT, roll under or equal to for success.

To Laura:
"Sis, I only had the standard amount of drinks I would have when I'm forced into low berth."
Surveying the deck and looking at the others standing around in their small clothes.
"That's odd, we must be the last group to wake up. Hardly looks protocol to me. Not a steward to be seen, although that's typical. Never one around when you need one."
Shivering.
"I'm freezing, who's for getting some proper clothes on and getting the hell off this deck."
2d6 = (6 + 3) = 9
edit: forgot to roll

[OOC - still silent, I move to the end and start to take my things out of the cubby hole.]

It starts to come back to me - I get my gear from the end of my berth, after David's found his. Where's our welcoming committee? Roll v INT: 2d6 = (5 + 1) = 6 {Target 11}
"C'mon bro, our bright new future is waiting outside those doors."

You all find your clothes, and get dressed.

"What the hell?"
Jaime shakes out his clothes and you see a large plume of dust fly off and make a cloud before the dust motes settle back to the ground. Jaime puts his clothes on and says, "I think we have a timing problem."

To Laura:
"When you're done messing around in the rubbish come and take a look at this."
I point to the blood stained shelving near my cubby, which appears to have a fingerprint.

I walk over to where David is pointing to the cubby and look inside.
"Shit."
Is there any sort of control panel or control room or anything close by that I could go take a look at. Without going to far from the others, that is. If so, I will go there and try to get some information - even something as simple as a date and time.

As you get closer you realise it's a standard jumpsuit worn by most of the crew. However you find something else unpleasant. Turning over a sleeve, you find a hand. A half mummified half missing hand. You also notice grey sand...or is it dust all over the suit and the surrounding floor.

There is a standard ships console near by that you should have "passenger" access to.

"Judging by his condition, I think he is long gone - it is probably too late to figure out what killed him. Heat incineration maybe? Old age?"
FNH1 wrote: There is a standard ships console near by that you should have "passenger" access to.
I walk over to the console and try to power it on, requesting the date and any history files that are available.
-

The console winks to life. A flashing in the top right immediately catches your attention. The word that is flashing says simply "Emergency".
Touching the "Emergency" word opens a window on screen that explains that the "S.O.S." beacon on the ship is currently transmitting and has in fact been transmitting for a couple of weeks.
The date/time indicates that you have woken three weeks later than was planned.
