JAKE
Jake froze for a moment, listening closely. He carefully hugged the wall and tried to moved silently yet quickly enough along the corridor wall to hear if the conversation continued. He looked back at the group giving them a cautious look, brows furrowed and emphatically putting a finger to his lips to indicate the need for stealth.

Jaime
Jaime froze at the sound of voices. He heeded Jake's imploring look to be silent, mimicking the finger to the lips and showing the others.
He did not continue to follow Jake, but instead halted and pressed himself up against the wall, staying still.

Likewise, I freeze and listen, taking what little cover I can.

As Jake edges closer to the doorway, he spots a pair of legs lying toes-up just inside the room. They are not moving.
Another couple of inches closer and he notices something odd. The body is wearing a standard ship suit like yourselves, the legs look normal, but the lower torso of the ship suit looks empty. He cant see the upper half of the torso without exposing himself. The ship suit does not look damaged in any way ( the parts he can see ). Simply, it looks like the suit contains legs, but no torso.
The conversation continues...
"Who the heck are you, to order me around. You found it, you clean it up!"
"I'm the butler. I'm the head of the household staff. The master pays me to manage the staff. You... are the staff, and I'm managing you. So... clean... it... UP."

Staying as quiet at the others, I wonder about those voices? Is there anything odd or distinctive about them?

[OOC: Can Jaime remember the ship plans? He looked at the computer console the longest. What I am meaning... can he remember is there is a nearby place to go to get a better look at the situation without bringing attention to ourselves?]

They are a bit "tinny" sounding.

The doorway ahead ( with the body ) is into a stateroom. You've already passed an adjoining stateroom. The comp revealed an air conduit joining all the rooms. Pop that open in the adjoining room, and you could crawl along and look through the grill into the room in question. The access grill is at floor level.

Damaris sudden awakening sent him rolling in the bed, only to find himself falling from his upper berth into what proved to be a rather hard and cold metal floor. He sat there briefly looking at the ceiling, without quite understanding what the heck was happening.
Instinct, born out of military training allowed him to quickly rally. he sat down and assessed the situation. 'No clothes, no one in sight. No crew. Major problem here.'
Feeling the cold, he quickly decided on his first priority. He had a vague recollection of where clothes were and so he headed to the storage.
2d6 = (5 + 5) = 10
He was right and quickly found clothes, even if not his own. He then heard the fading sound of voices. He looked in the general direction and saw a small group moving in the long corridor. He quickly and stealthy approached them. 'Any of you has any idea of what happened here?'
[OOC - Just getting involved, I'm with you all now!]

Jaime
Jaime looks at Laura and sees Damaris come down the hall.
He puts his fingers to his lips, letting Damaris know that he needs to whisper.
He looks at Laura and points around the corner, whispers, "I'm going to try and get a better look," and then goes into the adjoining stateroom and tries to quietly open the grill and climb into the air duct.
[OOC: let me know what/if I need to roll]

-
The grill comes off easily and you climb into the large metal tunnel and crawl along to the next stateroom's grill...
GM sent.

Jaime
A few minutes go by and then Jaime comes back around to the hall where the others are waiting.
He says, in a normal voice, instead of a whisper, "It's a vid screen looping a dramatic show. There are two bodies in the room. I didn't see anyone actually alive. We should use caution when we go in, but I do think it is safe enough for us to enter."

Damaris was still not clear about what was happening. Neither did the rest of the people, and he was getting worried. 'What killed them? Could you understand what was the cause? If it's not obvious we may need to find an environment monitor to be sure we are not being poisoned at each second...'

JAKE
Hearing Jaime's description from his scouting effort, Jake hazard a glance around the entryway, taking a quick look around the door and then dodging slipping back again.

Jake see the vid-screen playing, the half-a-body-in-a-ship-suit with a burn hole in the chest and an overturned table with something behind it.

To Damaris: "There are two dead bodies in the room... well, more like one and a half. One has a blaster burn on it, the other has no top half. We need to investigate more to find out."
Jaime nods at David's words and says, "Jake, you and me? The rest can stay behind in case I didn't get a good read. When we know we can give the all-clear."

JAKE
Jake nods the affirmative at Jamie, brows furrowed and adds, "Watch the table - might be a cover for someone behind it."
-
-
Entering the room, you realise it has the unpleasant smell of rotting flesh throughout.
Behind the table you find the crumpled body of a woman that is giving off the smell. Clutched in her hand is a Laser carbine with a partially discharged battery. Her name badge reads "Capt. D. Howell"
On the wall behind the table ( behind which it looks like she was sheltering ) are three or four burn marks.
The doorway you came in through is likewise burned in a few places.
Dust is spilling out of the neck and sleeves of the half-a-body.

JAKE
Jake steps around the body carefully inspecting it. He tried to determine her death but didn't spend too much time. Satisfied there was nothing that would immediately kill or infect him, he plucked the pistol from her death-grip. He examined the pistol to see if it was functional and then looked at Jaime, "We're armed and it looks like we'll need it."

Jaime
"Indeed. And it looks like we'll need more."
Jaime turns to the vid screen and shuts it off, or at least mutes it if he can't turn it off. Then he yells to the others, "All Clear, you can come in, but watch you step and hold your nose."

JAKE
Jake nods at Jaime and while waiting for the others, takes a moment to inspect the room closer. Not a crack shot with a handgun, he looked for something more his style, a knife, a nightstick, the leg of a table, a broken bottle - something more his style, something up-close-and-dirty. When the others arrived, he'd give them a moment to look about and then ask, "Anyone here a crack shot?" while holding up the pistol. "It's not my style..."
