Encumbrance limit is calculated by taking 5 times the strenth plus 1 for each fortune die associated with the strenth characteristic. I have a feeling this is from a forthcoming supplement and is not yet covered or have i missed something?

I'm not entirely sure what you're asking but I can say that's the rules almost exactly.
If you've got the the Player's Guide it's stated on page 107; others supplements have different pages, perhaps other BGGers can give you page references for those products .

I don't know what you'd be missing.

Player's Guide page 107 wrote:
A character’s encumbrance limit is equal to his Strength x5,
plus 1 additional point for each fortune die associated with his
Strength. Dwarfs are especially sturdy and powerfully built.
When calculating his encumbrance limit, a dwarf adds 5 to his
encumbrance limit.

None are.

You buy them with advances (XP) after character creation.
Each career allows you the opportunity to buy a certain number of fortune dice for their primary characteristics, not all careers (in fact most) will allow you to buy fortune dice for strength and thus increase your encumbrance max.
