I think the merging of mayday and High Guard rules for starship combat would add a new dimension of detailed movement to the High Guard rules for starship combat. It briefly mentions merging the two systems in the mayday rulebook but doesn't offer much help. How would say the turn sequence for, maybe, the High Guard rules be different? And so on? I would think large fleet combat would be too hard to do since, according to the Mayday rules there are past, present and future positions for each ship to keep track of. But it would be very good for limited ship battles and small firefights (maybe three to four ships per side). Has anyone ever worked this out?

Yes. My club Tactics-0 ( www.tactics-0.org) has tried this a time or two. Basically you just use the High Guard rules for the weapons firing.
I can't say I really recommend it but maybe you can get it to work. Don't be discouraged by someone else's experience.

So basically you use the turn sequence from the mayday rules and for the weapons fire phase you incorporate the high guard rules?

Yes, Mayday is used for the turn sequence and movement; High Guard is used for the weapons fire.

Isn't this what Battle Rider is for?
(Brilliant Lances for small ships.)
