The purpose of this thread is explore the story from the character's perspective. I will describe things to you and it will be up to you to decide how to interact with everything. Although this is mostly a published adventure, I will try to keep everything as open as possible and not railroad/script your story. When we have a combat encounter, I will post a map and update it as necessary.
If you have any random OOC questions, please post them in this thread. If you have a question about whether you did something right or something that is directly related to what you are doing, please put the question in parenthesis and in this color. Lastly, please use this Header on all of your posts. (Example)
Dev, Hexblade, HP=17/24, Surges: 5/7, Dailies: 1/1
You walk up to the small tavern. From the outside, the building has seen better days. Across the top of the door, there is a large sign depicting a Warforged hand holding a mug of ale, with "The Rusty Fist" scrawled across it. The large window in the front of the tavern is boarded up with what looks to be pieces of broken bar stools and tables. You push through the heavy wooden door, you immediately smell spilled ale, sweat, and dried blood. You see that the inside of this tavern doesn't look that much better than the outside. The bar is lit by a few suspended candles, and there seems to be a boarded up section of the wall on the left hand side of the tavern. It looks to be boarded up in the exact same manner as the window with pieces of bar furniture. Strangely, you see quite a few Warforged in this bar drinking and appearing to be drunk. There are few other non-Warforged here, but they seem to minding their own business. At the bar, you can't help but notice a Minotaur with a mechanical arm talking to a Gnoll. They seem to be upset about something. What do you want to do?

Roulan, Hexblade, HP 26/26, Surges 8/8, Dailys 1/1
Motions towards the gnoll. "I'm going to go sit next that one. Ayrien, watch my back. Vaile, see if you can get the Minitar to talk."" I go sit next to the gnoll.

Hiran Keyspirit, Cavalier, HP=31/31, Surges=13/13
I take note of the drow sidling up next to the Gnoll and decide to ask the Minotaur about the letter I received. "Excuse me, do you happen to know who wrote this letter? They're looking for my help and they seem to need it soon."
-
-
Argos, Cleric, HP=24/24, Surges: 8/8, Dailies: 1/1
I follow Roulan to the bar and discreetly try to listen in on whatever the gnoll and the minotaur are talking about.
I notice with curiosity that the heavily armored Dwarf approaching the minotaur carries a holy symbol, but it's doesn't look like a symbol of one of the Sovereign Host deities.
Also, I say: Hey Roulan, did you know Warforgeds can actually get drunk?

Krane, HP 25/25 Surges 7/7 Dailies 1/1
Krane watches the newcomers entering the tavern. Realizing that this has the potential for adventure Krane jumps a little. However, he realizes that this is premature and sinks back into his chair in the shadows of the back corner.

Vaile, Wizard, HP:24/24, Surges:8/8, Dailies:1/1
Vaile sidles up to the bar near the Minotaur and the Gnoll, taking notes in a small notebook. After the Dwarf inquires to the Minotaur, Vaile takes a moment to ask a follow-up
Vaile : Also, might you be able comment on how much you and your Gnoll acquaintence have drunk tonight?

Ayrien, Hunter, HP: 26, surges 8/8, Dailies 0/0
Ayrien nods to Roulan then looks for a solid wall to put his back too. He attempts to find a place Near the back corner where he can see both Roulan and Argos as well as any door/entryway into the tavern. If he can't he mutters something unsavory about cities and finds the best place he can.
Ayrien sees the Human sitting in the corner jump up in what looked like excitement and says
Ayrien: You seem a litle excited friend

Krane, HP 25/25 Surges 7/7 Dailies 1/1
Krane quickly seats Ayrien into the empty seat next to him.
"Shh, sit down here. This could be interesting. Im Krane by the way.
All the while Krane never takes his eyes from the newcomers and their increasingly heated argument.

The minotaur takes a quick look at the letter shown to him by Hiran. "Can't say that I do. What can I get for you?" he asks. He then turns to Vaile and gives her a puzzled look. "Whats it to you?" he asks.
As the minotaur is doing this, the Gnoll slaps Roulan across the face and says sternly "I don't take that from the regular drunks and I sure as hell am not going to take it from you. Now unless you are going to order something, don't bother me." says the Gnoll.

Roulan doesn't blink and says to the gnoll:
I meant you no ill. I'll take a pint of ale. I noticed you seemed a little on edge. What's troubling you?

Just so everyone knows, the way I intend to run this campaign is posting after everyone else posts at least once (outside combat), or once per day, whichever is less (edit, doh). I want to give everyone a chance to get involved and do something before resolving what happens.

Argos, Cleric, 24/24 HP, Surges 8/8, Daily 1/1
Good to have that cleared up, I thought I didn't need to post at every update, since my character is not really engaged in the conversation right now. Since I'm replying, I'll chime in on the scene :)
I address the gnoll before he leaves: Make that two ales, sir. And please forgive my companion's amazing lack of tact... I lean forward, whispering: Keep this between us, but he's been through a lot lately. Don't let that keep you from sharing your burdens with us, we'll be glad if we can be of any help.

I figured that was the case, but I want to get everyone involved as much as possible. Just because you aren't part of the conversation doesn't mean you can't participate. For example, you can do something completely different like snoop around or starting an arm wrestling competition with someone else. Or you can just listen intently or offer your opinion.

Ayrien whispers to Krane: What do you make of that wall
As he points in the direction of the boarded up section of wall. He lets his gaze drift that way to see if anytihng grabs his attention about it

The Minotaur's eyes soften a little after hearing Hiran's plea. He grabs a mug and starts to fill it with a dark stout. "Sorry, but I don't know any Tierna. My tavern has been getting quite the crowd after I created a few of my own brews, like this one."
The Minotaur hands Hiran the mug. "So I only the know the regulars by name. Feel free to ask Pat or any of the slobs here."
The Minotaur motions towards Vaile with his head and asks, while ignoring her rambling, "Is she with you?"

The Gnoll looks at the pair with an angry expression. "What's troubling me? Adventurers. Every time your kind shows up, something gets broken and then I don't get paid until everything is fixed. I haven't gotten paid for over 3 weeks now and look at the wall. Does that look fixed to you?"
The Gnoll grabs 2 glasses and fills them with ale and a lot of head and then hands them to Argos and Roulan, giving Argos a particularly nasty glare.

Whispers to Ayrien Man, the situation is defusing fast, there has to be something we can do to make it more fun.
Krane, takes a small silver coin from his pocket and deftly throws it at the gnoll while trying to remain hidden.
Should I make a check and if so what kind and how to roll dice in these forums?

Make a Stealth Check. To do any skill check, you hit the roll button, select 1d20 and type your bonus. Under "Comment", put in the type of roll you are making (Ex. Stealth Check). So what you get should look like this: Stealth Check 1d20+9 = (10) + 9 = 19
