Down to 1 hp ...
Pak'Cha shifts from J15 to J16, spirit companion moves to J15.
Pak'Cha has felt better, but she's not going down, not yet.
Pak'Cha uses second wind with an action point.
As she feels her strength returning, she focuses her mind on near-dead-looking raider, still covered in some worm-like things.
Attacks raider in K14 with haunting spirits. roll vs will 1d20+6 = (20) + 6 = 26 possible damage 1d6+5 = (3) + 5 = 8
The raider sees things from his nightmares attacking him and screams in agony.

Oooh!! Nice roll. Too bad he only has 1 hit point left ;)
The raider stands in place, breathing heavily as he tries to regain from the vicious assault. However, no sooner does he have his breath back, then his eyes go wide with fright. Screaming once more, the raider tries to back away from the imaginary horror before him.
As his mind begins to cave in from the fright; the man trips and falls backwards. His body hits the ground with a heavy thump, and he doesn't rise again.

Distracted by the nearest danger, Suldin failed to recognize the danger facing his loyal bodyguard and Pak'Cha. Now he focuses his attention on them and the dangers they face.
Vinara and Pak'Cha have taken care of one raider but the other one still stands before Kindrock. I'll give him nightmares beyond what he has ever experienced! He summons his inner reserves to double his power and calls forth his powers to attack.

Oh! Two devastating blows!
Like a macabre chorus, the screams of the raider and a handful of slaves echoe about the canyon as they're assaulted by nightmarish visions. The mental onslaught is enough to leave the slaves reeling on their feet; in danger of collapsing. The raider looks haggard, stumbling upon his feet; but he eventually manages to shake off the horrific attack.
And now, Kindrok, Morg, and Ulieth are up!

Kindrok is severely injured, but the sucess of Suldins spells invigorate him. In a blind fury he lashes out toward the nearest uninjured slave. (slave at G14)

The bastard sword lands a devastating blow upon the slave, nearly knocking the poor soul flat on his back. The large gash across his torso shows he won't be long for this world.
As Kindrok swings around, the sharp edge strikes a glancing blow against the heavily wounded raider. The man winces from the new wound; but stays on his feet.
Not quite enough to bring the raider down!

The raider in front of Ulieth is still on his feet.
Time to remedy that situation, Ulieth thinks to himself. He lunges forward once more with his bone carrikal, hoping to put the raider down.
Basic melee attack against raider in H17. Attack roll 1d20+7 = (13) + 7 = 20. Damage roll 1d10+4 = (4) + 4 = 8
Ulieth can hear the cries of dying slaves from towards the front of the caravan and knows that the mage must have unleashed hell. At the same time, every battle instinct told him that the next few moments were the key to the battle. Pak'cha and Kindrock were likely to be overwhelmed if this didn't end soon.
These scum can fight, Ulieth thought, but how strong are their minds? Reaching deep into his inner reserves, Ulieth used the Way to send a surge of energy at the raider still standing near the front of the caravan.
Ulieth uses the action point for a second action. Activates Wild Surge (once per encounter) targeting raider in H12. 1d20+4 = (14) + 4 = 18Potential damage roll 1d8+4 = (3) + 4 = 7

The carrikal digs a nasty gouge across the raider's arm, and he spits a curse at you. However, he remains standing.
The raider in front of Kindork, however, drops like a sack of potatoes as his body is blown backwards by the wave of psychic energy. The raider's innert body doesn't move once it lands.
Good show! The front-line raider is now gone, but the H17 one is still there!

The raider easily manages to dodge the first swing. With a sneer, he turns back to throw a scathing remark towards the stupid mul - only to be met with the sharp edge of a battleaxe.
The raider's eyes widen for a moment, shocked by the savage blow; before his body crumples to the ground.
And the raider is down! Good job! Now, the slaves get to respond in knid!

The wounded slaves, with the last of their strength, attempt to take down some of you with them. As Kindrok falls, the remaining slaves swarm past his body in a frenzy; hoping to bloody the rest of the caravan.
The two unhurt slaves rethink their plan of attack. In a panic, they both attempt to get away. Better to raid another caravan than die with this one!

As the last of the slaves falls, and the remaining two are high-tailing it out of the area, Kaldras steps forward. The perpetual frown he wears isn't as deep as usual. With a curt nod, he surveys the scene. "Hmm. Looks like you all were worth the trouble. Good! If anything had been damaged, it would have been your hides. Now, tend to your friends; and let's be off without much more of a delay!"

We could have done better, Pak'Cha thinks, I should have noticed those raiders much earlier. They we're onto me before I knew anything, I'll have to be more careful from now on.
We all need some rest before we continue. I am tired, as no doubt are you too. Pak'Cha says to others while carefully bandaging Kindrok's bleeding wounds.

You bear arms Kaldras, why did your people not fight? Your assisstance would have been invaluable in ending the conflict. Not waiting for a reply, Suldin moves to tend Kindrok. He acknowledges Pak'Cha and the assistance being given. I am sorry that we were not able to reach you sooner. I hope that we will be better prepared in the future. To Kindrok he says, You had to take them all on, didn't you old friend. I suppose you had to at that. I am sorry I was not there. Suldin assists Pak'Cha in binding Kindrok's wounds and then offers to do the same for him.

Kaldras spits on the hot ground as Suldin offers the inflammatory remarks. "Bah! I paid you to guard my caravan! I'll not waste my family and tribe's lifes while I'm paying good coin for guards! Nor will I waste my arrows while you are fully capable of defending us!" Kaldras shakes his head, growling under his breath in his typical demeanor. Of course, Kaldras wasn't going to add that he didn't mind if one or two fell along the journey. That would just mean more coin in his purse at the end of the day!
The rest of the tribe members return to the kanks, making sure they're okay and calming their nerves. The elves seem very practiced at their tasks, and quickly restore a bit of order to the caravan.
Kaldras eyes the group as they finish up their bandages, casting occassoinal glances around the canyon walls and cliffs. "I don't like staying here; not with all these bodies. If the stink of them baking in the sun isn't enough, I don't want to be around when they attract attention. You have 15 minutes to finish your business, and then we keep moving. We can rest when we find a better spot."
Feel free to roleplay a bit more around here. Do what you'd like/need to. Let me know when you're ready to move on by thumbing this post. Once everyone has thumbed this post, we'll move on to the rest of Stage 3 of the Skill Challenge.
Speaking of which, congratulations! Winning this combat counts as 1 success!

We have to take a break here. Kindrok Obviously cannot move on. And all of us need a rest from the fierce fighting. Morg said to the rest of the group, purposely projecting his voice loud enough for Kaldras to hear. Vinara, could you go and tell it to our host? I am not too much of a talker nor negotiator. We can move ourselves to the passage on the right where the slaves were hiding before they ambushed us. In any case, no fool would come this way after all these carnages that we laid before us.

Kindrok slowly opens his eyes. His head feels like it's been torn a part and put together again the wrong way, but at least it's still there. He can feel that someone is tending his wounds, and a shock of pain shoots through his body every time they touch him. All around him lies corpses from slaves and raiders. Looks like you got the rest of them..

Ulieth glances around at the carnage. Despite his quiet demeanor towards his new companions, he grudgingly admits that without them they would have been in a world of trouble.
Ulieth saunters towards Kindrock, who is slowly pulling himself together. Ulieth kneels and helps him bind the wounds.
Wanted to take them on all yourself, huh? he jokes.

I was willing to let you keep going but I think you are losing your edge. Getting old my friend? Suldin jests quietly with the goliath.
I suppose we should take a look at those bodies. Our employer might strip them bare. I'd at least like to give them some rest. Suldin moves to examine the bodies of the raiders. Would anyone else like to help me move them?
Kaldras!Suldin calls, We need to rest here, we will take care of the bodies so that we do not draw unwanted attention. We must rest in order to adequately defend your goods. If not, the next time you would certainly be overrun. Suldin hopes that the appeal to his greed and fear may influence him more than anger.

Vinara walks over to Kaldras, bandaging a small wound on her right arms as she walks.
I agree with your security team that rest now a short distance away would be in the best interest of the caravan and your family Kaldras. We do not know the intentions of the 2 cowards that fled, and another ambush could be just around the corner. We could easily find a defensible corner to take some rest. Otherwise you may be going forth without escort.

Kaldras glares at the woman for a few moments, and his eyes seem to be smoldering. Finally, wish an exasperated sigh, the peddler throws his hands up. "Fine! I'll give you a momentary respite. But I warn you - I have a schedule to keep! If I don't make it to Altaruk in time, I will dock your pay! Mark my words!"
In a huff, Kaldras turns and tromps off towards his tribe. Barking a few quick orders, the team leads the kanks into a bit of shade cast by the large canyons.

Oops! Right on that.
Your search of the bodies doesn't come up with much. This truly was a ragged and desperate group, as you can tell by how emacaited some of them look under their robes.
Beyond the tattered remains of their clothing; you find a bone dagger upon the slaves and the raiders. Several have broken tips or blunted edges. One of the raiders also has a barbed spear strapped to his back. Among the group, you manage to find about 5 ceramic pieces. A sorry lot indeed!

Disappointed that the spoils of a hard fought battle are not to be found, Vinara draws up a flat rock to the side of camp and invites the others around for a game of chance. Pulling out from her robe a small leather pouch, she displays a combination of bones and 4 sided polished stones. Several of the elves take and interest and soon are carousing around taking part in the game.
After a few rounds, she asks, Who would like to make it more interesting? She was not happy to see the way the elves left them take the full attack, when some were right next to the beasts. Maybe I can make them pay in another way She thinks to herself. They have several interesting trinkets in their possession.
