My name is William (Will) Taylor
And I am forgetting things

What has just happened to you?
One moment, I'm idly watching television in the dark of night, the next, I'm washing blood off my hands in my bathroom sink, clothing dirtied and torn, with no recollection of anything that happened in between. The only indication of the time was an eerie green light that shone into the room through the gaps in the shutter on the window...

Exhastion Talent: Stealth

Madness Talent: Memory Control
1: Make somebody briefly forget that I'm there.

5: Wipe a person's memories of all traces of me.
6: Wipe the memories of up to 24 hours from everybody in the room.

Drip, drip, drip. The moment comes like water out of a leaky faucet. The scene slowly begins to take form, as the water drops hit the sink. Drip, drip, drip. The red liquid falls of your hands. Drip, drip, drip. You notice the hole in your shirt. The sleeve is torn. Your pants have holes in them you could swear weren't there a minute ago. And they have red liquid soaked into them, all over the place. Drip, drip, drip. The faucet is on, and your hands are slowly rubbing together and foaming up red. The red liquid is all over the handles of the faucet, the soap container, the sides of the sink. The drain is filling up with it. Drip, drip, drip. You find yourself fully in the moment, though you don't know how you got there. The blood, if that's what it really is, covers your hands, your clothes. Looking in the mirror, you see splatters of it on your face and your hair. The way it covers you, the mess of your hair, you look positively crazed. Wasn't the TV on just a moment ago? What happened?

Drip, drip, drip. The sound of the water, rushing out of the faucet fills your consciousness, as you try to remember what happened. Where did this blood come from? Why can't you remember? You look towards the window, partially to get your bearings, and partially to look away from the mirror. That's funny, though.... you don't remember there being a window in this bathroom before. And there's an eerie green glow coming from the other side of the odd colored shutters that are covering the window. What could be the source of that?

I straighten and slowly cross to the window, pushing up the shutter, leaving red smears behind. Instead of my tiny apartment on the other side I see a cavernous hall through the glass, completely devoid of life. The green light shines down from above, the ceiling out of sight from my view through the window. I've never seen this place before, or at least I don't remember seeing a place like this before.

I push open the door beside the window, the door which I know I've used hundreds of times before in my apartment, and gaze into the hall. The bathroom suddenly seems cramped and stifling so I step onto the wooden floor, footsteps ringing out, faucet still running behind me.

Each step in the hallway seems harder than the one before it, and in spite of the cramped feeling of the bathroom, you find it hard to leave it, especially as you feel the blood still on your hands. With each step, you feel the blood flow right off the ends of your hands. You walk down the hallway, and as you do, you notice a bloody hand print on the wall. It's your size. You're not sure how to handle it. You continue on, finally reaching the end of the hallway. The TV in your living room flickers with the light of some sitcom or other. Looking around, you notice a door next to your kitchen. It looks like a refrigerator door, painted purple, and installed in the wall. You notice a smear of red on the handle, and a massive red smear all over the floor in front of the refrigerator.

I place a hand on the strange door's handle, my fingers fitting over the smear perfectly, and I hesitate. The last couple of weeks had been pretty strange, but nothing like unnatural glowing lights or mysterious new doors.

'This is messed up,' I think, but it doesn't stop me tugging on the door. It opens easily and swings wide revealing a stone staircase, medieval torchs bracketed to the wall. The stone steps are slick with dark red liquid.

Walking down the steps is a simple enough matter... though slick, the steps are easy enough to travel. Downward they go, and after a while, the steps end and a small stone doorway opens into a wide open room. Stepping through the door, you realize that the room isn't at all like the stairs. This room is a modern room, the flourescent lights buzz overhead... and the tile floor is slick with blood. But there are no signs of any bodies in the room. There's only one other door, and the walls near it have more bloody marks on them.

My footsteps are muffled by the blood as I cross the tile floor, and I push open the far door. The corridor on the other side is stark white, and unlike everywhere up until now, completely devoid of blood. Doors line the walls.

"Sir, we're very busy at the moment." A woman in a nurse's outfit is standing by a door, completely unphased by my appearance. "If you don't have an appointment, please return to the waiting room."

The door I came though had disappeared, with only smooth wall behind me.

You walk down the hallway. Each door you look through has a small, padded room behind it, though most of them are empty. You pass each door, and before long, you reach the end of the hallway. You push through the double doors at the end, and you find a fairly normal looking waiting room. A nurse behind the desk looks at you as you walk out the doors. She gives you something of a look, and it burns into your mind. You keep walking out the door on the other side of the waiting room. The door leads out to a street, which is wide and crowded. People of every type walk along the sidewalk.

Looking through the crowds, you see people in all sorts of dress, from 20s style flappers to modern hip hoppers.... and everything in between. After a while of just staring, a man in a British policeman's uniform, circa 1980 some, walks up to you. "Hey there, is there something I can help you with?"

"Um, no, I don't think so." I look around through the mixes of people, and I realise I can't see anything I recognise as the streets near my apartment. I run a thumb over my fingernails, blood still trapped underneath them. 'Where am I?'

"Hey," I call to the policeman, who hadn't moved away but was watching a group of people across the street. "Could you tell me what street this is? I'm a little lost."

"Sure, this is 19 and a halfth street. Where are you trying to get to? And... what's wrong with you? You look a little nervous. Do I need to take you down to the station to sleep off the booze?" He gives you a somewhat menacing look.

"No, not at all." I make an effort to stand straighter and look more focused. "I'm just a bit tired."

Nineteen and a Half Street sounds like something made up, but I'm not going call out a police officer for messing around with me. Instead I smile and nod. I'll ask somebody else or try to find my own way.

"Thank you for your help. I'll be going now..."

You turn and walk away. As you do, you notice that something seems.... off about the policeman. You push it out of your mind when you can't figure out exactly what it is.

Turning into the crowd, you start to just walk with them. You pick up fragments of conversation, but nothing terribly interesting.... mostly just exactly what you'd expect.

You walk along for a while, hoping to hear something interesting, or get somewhere interesting. After a while, the crowd seems to be thinning out. You take a look around, and notice a building that says "Michael's undertaking services" on it. Nothing else catches your eye.

Mentally shrugging, I head over to the building. It seems like as good a place as any to get directions. Pushing open the door, I walk into the empty reception area. It's dimly lit with a single struggling light bulb hanging from the ceiling, but everything looks clean and polished. There a woman bustling over a table on the other side of the counter, back turned towards the door.

"Hey, excuse me," I call to her, "Could you tell me what part of town is this? I'm a bit lost."

"Well, this is Baker street. One of the main roads between the bazaar and the district. Other than that, I don't know what you mean. Where are you trying to get to? And why are you asking for directions at the undertaker's, if you don't mind my asking? All that blood, I imagine you're looking for our services?" The woman smiles at you. It's a creepy kind of smile, and it seems a bit unsettling.

I open my mouth to reply, but I was stumped. Why had I come in here instead of just asking somebody in the street?

"I'm... I'm not sure. I can't remember." Embarassed, I look down. The blood staining my fingers makes me think... what if I had killed somebody? I couldn't think of who I'd want to kill, but if somebody found the body I wouldn't be hard to find in my current state. Resolving myself, I looked up again, determined.

"I think I might have a body to get rid of, but I'm not sure where it is."

"Well, if you find the body, we'll be more than happy to help you with it. Unfortunately, without the body, we can't really dispose of it. We're not really body hunters, we just bury 'em. But feel free to look around if you want."

You wander the lobby area, taking a look around. There's a bathroom to the right of the desk, and there's a large doorway that leads to the coffin showroom. You look through, and see the usual suspects - fine wooden coffins with padding. Modern style. There are also a few traditional style pine boxes, old school western movie style. Lastly, there are some unusual items - one that looks to be made out of a big piece of crystal, another made of some kind of black onyx, one made of wood - but painted in a variety of unique colors in a swirly pattern. The whole thing just looks so bizarre, surely nobody would really want a coffin like that.

I rest a hand on the black stone of one of the coffin, feeling the chill through my fingers as I think about what to do. I could be entirely wrong, I might have just helped somebody who was injured and forgotten about it. It was the sensible deduction, the sane one. I wasn't a killer. But... I was covered in blood, couldn't remember what I did for god knows how long, and the strange door with all the blood stains... Putting a possible murder to the side for a second, I also had no idea how to get back home. I never seen this part of town before, or even heard of it. I wasn't sure if I could find my way back to the clinic I emerged from, and even if I could, the door had disappeared as soon I went through it.

I drum my fingers on the lid of the coffin. 'Maybe somebody at the bazaar can help.' I leave the building after waving goodbye to the receptionist, and head in the direction the majority of people seem to be flowing.

You step out onto the street and take a quick look around. Off to your left, you see a large piece of graffiti, which looks unfinished, with the silhouette of a very attractive woman, and the face of some guy you don't recognize. You head off to your right, in the direction of traffic, roughly. The flow of people leads you to a large metal gate, with an archway overtop. The letters in the arch read "Bizarre Bazaar". Through the gate, you see numerous people milling about, and several tables filled with all kinds of things. The usual drone of a market fills your ears, the occasional voice rising above the others, calling out about some ware or another. You wander around, looking at the tables an their contents.

One table catches your attention - it's full of broken toys. None of them grab you beyond that they all appear to be broken.... which is odd enough in itself. Who would buy a broken toy? Moving down the aisle, you spot a table that is full of unusual items.... some handcuffs, some old coils of rope, a sleeping mask, some other things, many of which you can't quite recognize. Each table seems to have a theme of some kind, but it all seems so strange.

I wander between the stalls, distracted by the sheer variety of items for sale. I watch as a short woman buys a tiny bird in a cage from a stall, and hands over white disks for it instead of real money. Just a couple of tables down, a man is pulling white disks from a pouch at his waist to pay for has seems to be a blank canvas. 'Some kind of novelty market?'

There's a stall selling mirrors or every shape and size, and when I glance into a life-sized mirror propped up against the table I see myself derenched in blood, a twisted smile on my face and a knife in my hand. Hastily, I move on from the disturbing image. I turn a corner and see a row of tables covered in all kinds of maps and globes and I remember why I was here. I approach the stall-keeper.

"Excuse me, could you tell me how to get to the college from here? I'm a little lost."

'How many times have I asked people around here now?' The man opens his mouth to reply, but before he can a hand grips my shoulder from behind.

The man spins you around roughly, and you're face to face with a man in a 1920's style police uniform.

"What's with all the blood?" he says. "I haven't seen so much blood on anyone in years.... not since that little massacre at the old church on 21-and-a-half-th street."

I scowl. This has been single-handedly the most unhelpful part of town, wherever it is. And it wasn't that much blood.

"I was helping a friend who was injured," I say, crossing my arms. It's a lie that comforts me a little. "I haven't been massacring anyone, thank you very much."

I go to brush past the policeman, but his grip on my arm becomes vice-like and keeps me where I am.

"I don't think so. You're going to have to come with me to the station in the district, at least until we figure this all out. Now, come on. Don't cause me any trouble, and I'm sure we'll have this all sorted out in a few weeks. There's a lot of paperwork involved, as you know."

He starts to pull you down the street, somewhat roughly. You're not sure where he's taking you, but you're not sure you have time for a few weeks of paperwork.

You just have to make the roll.

You roll your discipline (currently 3) and exhaustion (you may increase your exhaustion by one before the roll) (currently 0) and permanent madness (currently 0). You can also add up to 6 temporary madness if you feel it is necessary (or if you wish to use your madness talent). All dice are 6 siders.

Just say what you're doing and roll it.

Pain 2d6ic[3] = (6, 1) = 1

You give a mighty shove and send the man tumbling. He stands back up and looks at you hard. "Assault on a police officer. Now that'll add some trouble for you." He leaps at you, making an attack that catches you quite by surprise. He hits you hard, knocking you to the ground. Not one to be deterred, though, you leap back upon him, and with a savagery you didn't expect, punch his head clean off. As his body falls to the ground, you notice the large key sticking out of his back, which turns a bit more, then stops.
