Being part of the VGG Beta, one of my goals might just have been to get the Herculean uploader badge before the site even went publicly live. Not because I'm competitive, of course... Since then, I haven't at all been keeping an eye on the other top contributors to see what our relative standings are... Sometimes I wonder whether I was made an admin simply to stop be contributing so much. :D
With regards contributions, I make an above-average percentage of my contribution score from series. It seems lots of series of games get submitted to VGG, but not the actual Series entry itself. Strange as it's such easy pickings. Ah well - all the more for me!

This all started out as a way to get GG for the G4GG lotteries. I submitted some games, and got some GG, then realized “hey, I could submit more games”. It morphed into a race to see if I could be the second person after Nick to get the Herculean badge (I was 3rd). Then I got that and became an admin, and it became a game to catch Nick. Now it's a game to stay AHEAD of Nick (dammit Nick - I'll catch you again one day). Well, that and improve the database, of course

I'm embarrassed to be on this list because I do so much less than the others! Like Ziilch, I started submitting entries to VGG because of my long-standing participation in the G4GG lotteries. The early days of VGG submissions were almost too easy: just think of any game, and chances were good that it hadn't been submitted yet. I began with one of my first video game obsessions, text adventures, leading to the submission of almost the entire Infocom, Magnetic Scrolls, and Level 9 catalogs, as well as every modern classic that I could think of: Photopia, Spider and Web, etc. (I still hope to enter all of the IFComp games some day.) Then my wife bought me an iPad and I started obsessing over iOS games. More recently I got a PS3, and I can already sense my tastes shifting....
What keeps me going with VGG submissions nowadays is not so much the material rewards (such as they are), but the unexpectedly warm community that has sprung up among the few of us silly enough to pursue a few microbadges and a post or two of acclaim. And as VGG expands in content and users, I'm sure all of us feel a sense of parental pride at seeing "our" kid grow.

What a great honor to be included in this group of obsessive contributors! :) For my part, I love old school arcades and since I spent SO many quarters in them, I can get a little return in the form of Geek Gold. I entered pretty much every arcade game from 1970-1980 and then large portions of Konami, Taito, Tecmo and other classic arcade creators. Oh yes, and lots and lots of Pong.
My thanks to the admins, contributors and Arcadians for making the VGG great!

The history of video games is amazing and adding games to the database is like following strands of that history. I concentrated on inputting Koei and Tecmo (from the Koei side), as well as PS2 and PS3 games, especially from the Japanese side. Presently I'm going through ZX Spectrum games and the wild 1980s for British developers. If you are reading this and need help getting started on inputting games into VGG, or are planning to finally do a documentary on the history of video games, drop me a geekmail and I will encourage you.

The contribution score is worked out as:
- [Video Games] + [Franchises] + [Series] + (0.25 x [Releases])
The rightmost column of the table is currently manually maintained by Ziilch and updated periodically. Poke him if you think it needs updating.
