As many of y'all may know from my presence elsewhere in the geek, I am primarily a boardgamer. However I stumbled across Fiasco Classic a few months ago from On Board Games podcast and now I'm really interested in this world.

Unfortunately I think most of my initial attempts will be as 2P games with my girlfriend or with the occasional gaming buddy I can suck into playing with me.

And by the way, I believe that RPGgeek needs to have a player count in the stats also, these games must have a sweet spot right? Or is that just a bgg mentality?

Please add to this list...and certainly comments also! I haven't had a chance to try any of them myself....Also unless stated otherwise, these games can play more than two players.

Quote:
Epistolary is a narrative RPG that is designed to be played by 2 or 3 people using email, play-by-forum, or any other medium that is asynchronous and turn-based.

The play is based on creating a work of fiction in the style of an Epistolary novel...which is a story that is created through the collection of various 1st-person notes, letters, and journal entries, combined with other historical research. There is no sense of an omniscient narrator, or explaining what your character is doing. Instead, you create journal entries in the voice of your character, re-telling the events of the day through his or her eyes.

While hunting for loot in the ghost world, your crew was sold out. You've walked right into an ambush, with hungry Wraiths on your heels.

QUESTIONS YOU WILL ANSWER AS YOU GO.
Why does your crew need loot? What ghost powers does your particular crew member possess? What is the ghost world? What are Echoes? What are Wraiths?

GHOST/ECHO is presented as an 'oracle game'. It provides only a starting point and a resolution mechanic. You and your friends fill in the rest of the details as you play.

Players take on the roles of vibrant, dynamic characters whose very beliefs drive the story forward.

Starting with a simple d6 die pool mechanic, this game intuitively builds on its core concepts, evoking a pitch and tenor in play uncommon in roleplaying games. It details solid, dramatic systems for task resolution, advancement, trials of belief, tests of nerve, searing social conflict, dangerous sorcery, miraculous faith, and brutal, gut-wrenching martial combat. Behind the dice, player decisions drive the game's systems. The choices tangibly affect every outcome, from glorious victory to ignominious defeat.

Shooting the Moon is a collaborative role-playing game, with a love triangle at its heart.

Players take the roles of two characters pursuing a shared Beloved and play out the roadblocks and hurdles the characters face on their path to true love or to the somewhere else that love may lead them.

Two Suitors compete for the affection of a shared Beloved, who has overwhelming odds of their own to face. United and divided by their shared fates and intertwined destinies--the game will let you see what these three characters are made of, and what they will do for love.

Quick and easy, Shooting the Moon can be played in one to two hours with no prior preparation required. It is a two or three player game.

Action movies have always been at odds with realism. Fortunately for us, their conflict is easily resolved with a series of savage kicks to realism's face! Impossible leaps, insane acrobatics, and victory against overwhelming odds are all staples of the genre... and the essential elements of action role-playing games.
Sadly, traditional RPGs have long been in league with realism. They penalize players who want to, say, kick seven mooks with one spin kick by piling negative modifiers onto their roll, which makes them less likely to succeed. The inevitable result is that smart players stick to simple, boring actions and take a tactical approach to combat. Wushu breaks up this insidious alliance with a core mechanic that rewards players for videscriptions and over-the-top stunts by making them more likely to succeed, each and every time.

Except for the GM, of course, who pretty much just exists to make your life miserable.

You can't sleep. It started like that for all of us, back when we were garden variety insomniacs. Maybe you had nightmares (God knows we all do now), or maybe you just had problems that wouldn't let you sleep. Hell, maybe you were just over-caffienated. But then something clicked.
That was when you took a long walk down the streets of the Mad City, stopped being a Sleeper, and started being Awake. But that click you heard wasn't from the secret world snapping into place. It was the sound of the Nightmares flicking off the safety and pointing a gun at your head.
They can smell you. The Paper Boys are closing in, and you'd better pray you don't become a headline. You're chum in the water, my friend, and it's time you got ready for it... before the clock chimes thirteen again. Now that you're one of us, there's just one simple rule left that must dominate your life.
Stay Awake. Don't Rest Your Head.
