The coolest thing about hanging out with other roleplayers is getting to share interesting or funny roleplay anecdotes, to gush about that cool thing you did in your campaign last week where you rolled five tens in a row and ended the galactic war with your bard's song, how you GM'ed a session and your players ruined all your plans within five minutes, the plot twist that just shattered your PBM, or that thing that happened that made everyone roll on the floor laughing for 10 minutes straight.

I love to read those funny and inspiring stories, so I thought to make weekly a Geeklist for them. A Geeklist so visitors to the rpg item you're playing can get excited about it through some short anecdotes. Feel free to add a link to your session report, as well!

So, how did your RPG session(s) go this week?

(Subscription thread? Ah, why the hell not!)

Also, if you are writing full length session reports to this geeklist, I strongly encourage you to submit them as such under the appropriate RPG or RPG Item. Doing so will get you more GG, earn microbadges, and contribute useful data to the site. See this blog post if you are asking yourself How do I know when I've created a session report?.

The PCs
Albrecht a Sanctioned Psyker and Inquisitor
Lazarus an Inquisitorial Adept from the Adeptus Mechanicus
Jart an Inquisitorial Acolyte
Nuella a Death Cult Assassin
Oskel Ciju a Salamander Scout
I am GMing

This is the third story arc for Albrecht, Lazarus, and Jart; the second for Nuella; and the first for Oskel. The PCs have been dispatched from the world they've been adventuring on, the hive planet Hades Delta, to the planet Aurelian. An unassuming world: standard technology level, about a billion inhabitants, no single industrial specialization. The presence of an Ordo Hereticus inquisitor and his acolytes was requested by the Adepta Sororitas. Apparently there have been a rash of cultist terrorist attacks. After ferrying over on Honoris Causa, a frigate they've tooled around on before, the party landed on the surface and were quickly hurried into a rhino. A battle sister, Ellarya, told the party that the cultists have launched a number of brazen attacks, attacks that started when a quarter of the planetary defense force and half of the sororitas shipped out to fight in a crusade. The planet's ruler, the Hierarch, had become paranoid and the remaining PDF and sisters had stepped up. They had recently come to some intelligence.

When the PCs arrived at the sororitas convent they met up with an officer of the PDF and the canoness. A cultist that had been constructing a bomb had screwed up and it had detonated prematurely in a hab slum tower. Security forces had arrived and found a damaged data slate that showed routes through some underground tunnels beneath the city. That, they believed, was where the cultists operating in city must have their base. The PCs wanted to get down to business right away so a large force of soldiers backed by several squads of sororitas and the PCs descended. A command post was set up and the troops began sweeping the tunnels. A soldier approached the PDF commander, and then promptly shot him dead revealing the soldier's treason. The assassin was then gunned down in turn but it was as if an occult hand had flipped a switch and now traitor guard seemed to be everywhere gunning down loyalists. Cultists began boiling out of previously hidden grates and tunnels, the vox channels were filled with panicked screams. The PCs along with Ellarya made a fighting retreat.

They found themselves on a grid based sewer map. Up ahead they heard a loyalist shot dead by traitor guard and cultists. Nuella and Oskel (this was by the way the name that Roll20 randomly made up when I created the player's sheet, he decided to keep it) sneaked up and saw that the enemy numbered 14 cultists and 3 traitor guard, a large force! In Nuella's microbead she heard, "hey catsuit girl, move a little to the left." She did and there was the report of a longlas and then the corpse of a traitor guard crumpled to the ground. Combat was joined! The PCs took a little bit of damage and completely wiped the floor with the bad guys. Note: rebalance encounters. The mysterious sniper leapt down from her perch and promptly told the PCs she'd been waiting for them but asked where the other Deathwatch guys were? When the PCs told her that they were Ordo Hereticus and didn't know about any Deathwatch she told them she'd been instructed to meet up with an Ordo Xenos inquisitor and assassinate the Hierarch. "Why?" they asked. "Well he's the leader of the cult" she answered. She introduced herself properly, Tiko of the Vindicare Temple.

On the surface all hell had broken loose with cultists and traitor guard attacking everyone. The convent was under siege and looking like it would fall soon. But on their secure vox channel they heard a message for loyal survivors to report to Base Alpha. Ellarya told the PCs that was a secret sororitas urban training center. The base was sure enough a rally point. A mix of sororitas and PDF were there under the command of a celestian superior. But would it be enough? Could they turn the tide? A message came over vox, a rhino was under attack and survivors were pinned down. "We'll start here!" declared Albrecht and we ended it there.

GM: Me
Chris: MelanZeth- Human Bloodhunter
Sarah: Vola -Half-Orc Fighter
Lyn: Chuuitt - Lizardfolk Druid
Paul: Seven Thunders Distant Rain - Tabaxi Monk
Jake: Shote Gunn - Dwarf Cleric

Spoiler (click to reveal)
Session eighteen of our hoard of the dragon queen campaign and they continued their assault on the castle, the lizardfolk are quick excited as their little rebellion takes hold and they dash of ahead of the party, who take their time exploring each room.

Vola discovers a makeshift forge and several lizardfolk attempting to craft a spear, although it is more shovel like. she stops and shows them how to smith, spears but very little is actually comprehended by the lizardfolk,

MelanZeth and Shote continue past the forge heading up the southern tower and find several more armored and armed lizardfolk basking on the warm room above the forge. they are quickly roused and told to join the fight. they refuse saying they protect the elf..... but since they are the day shift, and it is now night they are a little confused as to where the elf currently is. 'Zeth and Shote also discover a trapdoor up to a third level of the tower but it appears to have been nailed shut from this side. They wisely leave it alone.

Thunder and Chuuitt open a door and find approx twelve lightly armored bullywugs cowering behind their beds. They mistake Thunder for a cultist and inform him that he should keep an eye on the sneaky stupid lizardfolk (Chuuitt). Thunder tried to talk to them but they will not let him up the stairs. Pharblex said not to let anyone up. He has almost convinced them to let him pass when Chuuitt, fed up of the stink eye he is being given and the bullywugs constant referrals to his stupidity, launches a spell directly at a bullywug.

MelanZeths keen ears pick up the yelp of surprise from the bullywugs as Chuuitt charges and bites one of them, his mouth filling with the disgusting blubbery flesh of bullywug, so Vola, Shote and Melanzeth also charge into the fight. It goes well and then dish out plenty of damage. Thunder spots several muddy chests under the stairs but they do not have time to inspect them and Chuuitt is angry and he storms upstairs after a fleeing bullywug and discovers a barricade of broken furniture and bullywug spears. He morphs into a ram and slams his head against it but it doesn't move.

Melanzeth and Thunder are both able to use Chuuitt's back as a jump point to leap over the barricade and into the room beyond, to be faced with Pharblex Spattergoo the Bullywug shaman and his elite guard. It is a hard fight where Chuuitt is targetted repeatedly by Pharblex and almost looses consciousness but a crippling strike from Thunder stuns the shamen allowing the party to turn the tide of battle, reducing Pharblex to a blubbering whimpering pitiful creature begging for his life, as his shocked bodyguards stop and stare at their former leader.

We wrapped up our campaign of The Two-Headed Serpent last night. Our three investigators survive multiple encounters and take several hits to their sanity getting into the Citadel on Mu. When they get to the Control Room, they find a three-way battle of wills between the Insane Computer, Tyrannish, and Rose Meadham. Tyrannish wants the computer to release Ghatanothoa from his slumber, and Rose has convinced the computer to start the countdown sequence that will return Mu to Earth and detonate the Doomsday device.

However, Vasili makes use of a Psychic Communicator he took from a dying Elder Thing to establish a direct mind-link with the computer. Randall Savage and Father John kill Rose Meadham and Tyrannish, while Vasili stops the countdown sequence and puts Ghatanothoa back into slumber. They plant the Haftorang device (it's totally not a nuke, but basically the same effect) and flee back to the gate to Earth. Naturally, they leap though the gate just as Mu goes up in flames behind them, incinerating the Citadel, Ghatanothoa, and thousands of Elder Things, Shoggoths, and degenerate Serpent People.

Only a short session this week.

The Dead of Knight Part 2

Axel - Riverman
Sigmund - Courtier to Sir Wilfrun
Bernheadt - Soldier working as manservant for Countess Emilia.

Having discovered Axels mother dead the City Watch investigate and are comfortable that the Chaos Mutant intruder was to blame, trying to implicate the PCs after they killed the other members of his cult (previous adventure).

Axel investigates the name Esmeralda, the name in the letter from his father.

A painting of Esmeralda is discovered. When the cook arrives for work, after breaking the sad news of the murder of Countess Emilia, Axel asks what she knows. The cook did not know Esmeralda, but said she was the younger sister of the Countess. After further questions it appears that Esmeralda was betrothed to Sir Wilfrun, Axels father, but it would appear that he had an affair with Emilia.

They find details of the family mausoleum where Esmeralda is buried. It seems that their answers may only be found in the tomb...

Went to Minneapolis on Saturday for Con of the North. As usual, there was an abundance of great games to choose from, and not enough time to play them all. However, I got to enjoy

Champions (HERO System 5): Junk Yard Dogs. A group of 1950s middle-America teenagers sees the truth that the adults cannot - their small town is under attack by vampires! Events lead to the loss of some friends and a big showdown with the master vampire in the high school gymnasium.

Dungeon Crawl Classics Role Playing Game: The All-Seeing Eye of Zhothaqquah. A group of adventurers is hired to recover a cache of gems from the City of the Dead. Once they get there, they discover a temple to Zotthaqquah and the avatar of the angry god wants a sacrifice. We sacrifice the guy that hired us and set us up in the first place. Great game run by the mighty John Dahlstrom.

They finish their survey mission.

May be switching systems soon; One of my regulars is burning out on Star Wars, especially mission oriented.

Players present enjoyed having a no-combat session...

GM: Jake
Morgan: Krunk- Half-Orc Bard
Sarah: Eme- Elf Druid
Paul: Galadir- Half-Elf Paladin
Clare(me): Scribbleface- Goblin Artificer
Bethanie: Otoxsys- Eleven fighter NEW PLAYER

Having dealt with the merrow we decide to investigate the frequent shark attacks next and as we reach the border we find the lone survivor of the border patrol, an elf called Otoxsys, pinned under her deceased seahorse mount.

We free her and heal her. Tre'ox questions where her comrades are and she points to the floating chunks of flesh in the water and laments that Tre'ox will not grant further resources to protect the borders properly. She is more than eager to join us and seek out the shark wielding sahuagin.

We journey across the no mans land- demilitarized zones- between where the sea elves claim lands and the sahuagin claim lands, and note the large number of bones littering the area, all picked completly clean, there are no signs of life in the barren area and it is eerily quiet. We get the sense we are being watched and so we crack open a vial of shark blood into the water hoping to scare off any large predators that might mistake us for food.

The feeling of being watched does not diminish, but fortunatly we see bright lights up ahead and so Krunk calls out to what must be the sahuagin. It is not the sahuagin, but a pair of angler fish with brightly coloured lures. It takes all of Scribbleface willpower not to reach up and touch them. With us engaged, up front with the angler fish the largest shark we have ever seen takes its opportunity to attack from behind. Otoxsys dispatches the shark with prejudice (2 critical hits in a row) whilst the rest of us deal with the angler fish.

We continue to the sahuagin village and find it complete deserted, save for 3 large paddocks of sharks (sahuagin mounts). Eme senses that the sharks are really really hungry, and we discover that a forth pen has been broken out of. there is no sign of any sahuagin anywhere. It looks like they abandoned this place really quickly. Whilst everyone else is engaged Scribbleface pulls a lever near the shark pens and shark food- including several body parts of surface dwellers is released into the shark pens, which the hungry sharks quickly devour. Galadir is not happy with Scribbleface at all for this.

We debate
a) killing the sharks
b) freeing the sharks
c) leaving them where they are to starve

A map is found in one of the abandoned huts with a settlement circled and several more crossed out completly. We decide to head to the circled settlement and inform the sahuagin we (hopefully) find there about the sharks so they do not simply starve in their pens.

We do find the settlement and the sahuagin who inform us that they do not want war with the knife-ears. They are loosing control of their sharks because of some foul ritual from the kou-toa, a strange fish people who usually are travelling scavengers who pose no real threat as they are so cowardly, however it seems they have a new leader who has united them and uses strange magics which cause the sahuagins sharks to turn against their masters and the kou-toa are rapidly gaining ground and the sahuagin are facing annihilation.
