Geekway 2019 Game Planning

If you could touch the alien sand and hear the cries of strange birds and watch them wheel in another sky, would that satisfy you?

Hello, all! In just about three months, we'll be gathered at the St. Charles Convention Center for four days of peace, love, and board gaming. Let the planning begin!
How It Works • Add a geeklist item for a game you wish to play or teach, or for which you wish to plan an unofficial tournament. • Comment on games in the list, especially if you want to get in on the action! • Pick a day and time during Geekway that's agreeable to as many of the interested parties as possible. • Meet up at Geekway and play!
Pro Tips • Share your phone numbers. As Geekway grows (extra floors this year!), it gets more and more difficult to find the folks you're supposed to be playing with. Used to be you could say, "I'll be in the Northwest corner," and that's all you needed. Now, you need to not only specify a corner, but also a room, and chances are the place you've predetermined is already occupied, so you have to relocate. Sharing phone numbers makes it possible to relocate without stress or fear! • Use the coordinates. Last year, you could plot the coordinates of virtually any chair in the main hall using the row and table cross-reference. It's a great tool, so maximize it. • Relax! Even the best plans will sometimes fall apart. Do your best to appear when and where you say you will; it's just good etiquette. On the other hand, sometimes a very shiny game places itself in your face, and you get sidetracked. Try to resist the siren's call. But, if you can't let your erstwhile game partners know you'll be a no-show (see "Share your phone numbers" above). • Enjoy the people! Geekway is a gaming convention, but it's the people that make it so great. I've met some great folks at Geekway, and I now consider some of them to be friends. That's a wonderful thing. So have fun playing games, but meet some new folks while you do it. If you're arriving with a group, invite others to join you. • Take a shower! It's tempting to power one's way through 36 continuous hours of gaming, which is possible, thanks to the 24/7 gaming rooms. Resist the temptation. You need rest, and hygiene. Now, I can say, very happily, that I've not noticed this to be a problem at Geekway, but this is good advice for life, not just gaming cons. Good hygiene also helps prevent the spread of con crud, so you'll be doing the larger population a favor. • Have Fun! That's why we go to Geekway, to begin with. It's just fun. So be sure to have fun. Don't fill your schedule so full that you start worrying about fitting in that game you promised to play. Leave open times to just walk around and see what folks are up to. You might find yourself invited to join a game about to start. What a great opportunity! (see "Enjoy the people!" above)
Thanks to uheimbu for running this list in past years. I've blatantly plagiarized much of his past text.

I played two great games of this last Geekway, and I'm looking for more! I have the original coffin box game, no expansion, no alternate hero rules. I'm open to alternate game lengths, as well as multiple sessions.
Thursday early afternoon
1. Sean (logopolys) 2. Matt (AlkalynSyn) 3. 4.
I am down for a second session if there is interest.

I wouldn't mind some extended multi-game sessions of DT. I also have Paladins & Dragons, Fire and Water, Forces of Darkness, Mercenaries, and Room P2.
No set times. Whenever people want to get together.

One of the THE best convention games out there! This is the type of game that works best if everyone goes into it with their role pre-picked and has a pretty good idea of what they're doing. I can help teach if need be, but a little work beforehand goes a long way with this one...
*** GAME TIME WILL BE FRIDAY at 4:00pm (plan for 90 minutes, to be safe) ***
1) whitecarlton81 2) DJZachLorton 3) Mordune (TEACHING) 4) brotherchaos 5) Rossi77 (1) 6) Rossi77 (2) 7) Rabidkiwi143 8) jrenna07

DAMAGE REPORT
We must . . . get . . . to the transporter room.
A real-time, pickup & deliver, resource management, simultaneous action, scenario-driven game in which everyone helps to repair and charge systems on a ship that is constantly getting hit with damage. Can you keep Life Support above 0% and get your mission accomplished by the end of the game?
Some people consider this to be like Space Alert, but it's not, from what I understand . . . it's much more intense. Because everyone acts at the same time, planning out your actions requires communication and coordination. You definitely can't play this game in a vacuum. Unless it's the vacuum of space . . . which it is.
Day & Time TBD. Playtime about 60 minutes per game, with instructions. 1. Zach 2. 3. 4. 5. 6.

DOWNFORCE - 4 RACE CIRCUIT
I feel the need . . . the need for owning cars, racing them, and then making money off the bets I place, whether it's my car that wins or not . . . and speed.
I would like to run a 3- or 4-race circuit of Downforce at Geekway this year. I don't have the expansion, so we could use the basic maps, driven in reverse for 2 of the races (unless someone has an expansion board they'd like to bring with them).
The game is simple enough to learn that even if you come in dead last in the race and the betting in one game, you could still crush the competition by the end.
Time & Date TBD Playtime about 2 hours for 4 races. 1. Zach 2. 3. 4. 5. 6.

Is that windmill made of rock?
Amazingly fun and simple dexterity flicking, but on Mars. And with golf rules.
THIS HAS BEEN MADE INTO AN OFFICIAL GEEKWAY TO THE WEST EVENT! We will open the tournament to 16 participants, and will have some kind of prize to give away to the grand winner. Tournament will last about 2 hours, maximum.
Friday, May 17th. 6:00 pm Click here to register.
As of right now, ticketing for events isn't "open" to the public, but once it goes live, I will alert everyone to it so that you can reserve your spot in the tournament.

1. aquariankate 2. raynovich 3. bryan 4. JimmyJoe 5. Eric_Tama

Let’s save the goddamned world together! Each player represents a Continental Coalition (N. America, S. America, Europe, Asia, Africa) and will be working together to both fight off the invading aliens and working to shut them down. The game states it’s a 3-5 player game...BUT every game utilizes ALL of the 5 represented continents so optimal play is 5 players.
The game is big, plastic pieces, and brutal!
I’m not sure timeline on when to play (Thursday/Friday) preferably in the evening but I would love to get a 5 player game of this in. I’ll teach the game all you have to do is help me save the planet.
