1W6 Freunde (1d6 Friends) is a German RPG in which you play teenagers that uncover crimes in a big city. It is inspired by books and TV series like The Three Investigators (German: Die Drei ???), TKKG, or The Famous Five (German: Fünf Freunde). The game is equally aimed at teenage and adult players and is suitable for RPG beginners.
The mechanics of 1W6 Freunde are quite simple. Every character has four attributes (Strength, Cleverness, Courage and Social skill). There are no skills. When an attribute check is required, the character rolls a single d6, and adds the appropriate attribute. Positive and negative modifiers may be applied at the GM's discretion. If the total result is 6 or more, the character has succeeded. A negative result is a critical failure.
During character creation, the player distributes a number of points on his attributes. He also selects a "Reward of Merit" (German: Fleißkärtchen). Rewards of merit are skills or areas of knowledge in which the character excels, like "Bookworm", "Hero of the Gym" (acrobatics), "Hell's Angel" (expert bicycle driver). If a check is required in which these skills may be of use, the character gets a bonus to the check.
The characters are a gang of youths, and as a gang they get a number of "gang points". Those points are shared by the characters, and each character may spend as many points from the pool as he likes. Spending a point grants either a +1 bonus to a check or averts a critical failure.
If a character gets into a brawl, he and his opponent roll 1d6 + strength + modifiers. Whoever rolls the higher result roughs up his opponent. There is no lethal combat in 1W6 Freunde.
1W6 Freunde also features a random adventure generator.
