A pencil-and-paper RPG set in a fictional world based on the myths, cultures, and geography of Precolumbian Mesoamerica.
The world of Semanawak is a precarious place, young one. It stands upon the back of Sipaktli, the alligator goddess of chaos and destruction whose sleeping corpse forms the land we live on. Though she was killed long ago she still stirs beneath your feet.
It lies stretched beneath the Sun, beneath the goddess Wisitlalin, who parades daily across the sky shedding her holy light, then plunges each night into the horrors of the Underworld. If the people are good and duitiful, she will be strong enough to fight her way through to the dawn. If they forget their obligations, she will not rise, and the world will remain in eternal night.
Every day the world balances upon an edge thinner than the sharpest blade of obsidian. To either side is eternal darkness. Perhaps someday it will finally fall. But know this, Eagles and Jaguars, brave ones who battled through birth to stand in this fleeting but beautiful land: the edge that the world balances on is You.
