Schimmen en Schaduwen, which translates into 'Shades and Shadows' is set in the world of Dor.
It was the first Flemish fantasy RPG (published in Dutch), created in the late 1980s, by three RPG fanatics.
Inspiration was found in games such as Runequest and Warhammer FRP. The trio called themselves 'The Wise Tree' (not 'The Wise Three', although this was obviously a pun).
The first edition (1988) of their game was a rather hefty book (over 300 pages) of which only 75 copies where printed. The book had a black cover, with a yellow pentagram as a picture. A few sample copies with a white pentagram were produced as well.
In 1990 an improved version of the game came out, mostly by request of new fans of the game. The cover of this version was green colored. Two years later another edition was printed, with a red cover. This time 400 copies were printed.
Several supplements were also produced: Sagen & Legenden I, Sagen & Legenden II, Duistere Catacomben I, Duistere Catacomben II, Het Symbool van Crann.
All the original versions are out of print, obviously, but you can download the latest version now, courtesy of The Wise Tree.
