This is a story you can interact with and change. Interactive Novels were most popular in the 80's with many series where the reader could determine the outcome of the story, and they have made a small rebound lately. Maelorum is the name of this nearly completed work, and is the result of over ten years of conception, planning, and countless dedicated, sleepless nights. It is different than any Gamebook that has come before, with a first-person navigation system as pictured above, a unique, rebooted battle system, and focuses on storytelling, full of character development, treasure to be found, monsters to be slain - and much, much more!
I have tried to be more story focused, less random, and give more realistic choices. I wanted a way to explore the book almost like a video game. Thus I created a first person navigation system, in a style many have said reminds them of ShadowGate, which I take as a very high compliment because that was one of my all time favorite games growing up. Still, there were things I wanted to do different than existing Gamebooks, I didn't want my reader to have to learn too many rules, or take away from the reading / escapism experience. I wanted a streamlined book.
Last but not least, the story had to be compelling. Personal. I created three people with very Human flaws, and each with something different at stake. Each character has their own sub-plot, so even when you finish the book, it can be read all over again through someone else's eyes. With the random events, and insane amount of choices, and after ten years of development, I believe I have truly created a Never-ending Story.
