Icar is a space opera, set in the far future where a benevolent Imperium looks after the populace at large and protects them against a rarely-seen race of robots called the Droids. The characters take on a variety of characters in this post-war feel space opera. There are no intelligent alien species, travel between the stars is commonplace, robots called Automatons exist somewhere between slaves and family members; and an internet called Gaia is the backbone of the civilisation.
Icar uses different mechanics to represent different parts of the game. Skills and firefighting are roll under percentile based, close combat uses a cinematic style of laying blows, vehicle combat involves choosing manouvres to balance risk and reward and space combat requires the whole team to keep the ship together!
In Icar version 4 (released 2012), all the supplement books are moulded into one (except the Equipment Index, which are handouts).
