From "Playing the Game":
One player needs to take on the mantle of the Game Master, or GM. The GM acts as the master of ceremonies for the game, orchestrating the key events and ruling on the interpretation of
these rules.
The other players each take on the role of a particular pilot. From time to time, they will also take on the role of someone else, to bring them into scenes where their pilot is not.
Every other character, including the invaders, is under the control of the GM.
The GM is not playing to win against the rest, they are playing to entertain and challenge.
The game consists of a number of key events during the attempted invasion. Missions, where the PDF pilots fight against the invaders, are an important type of scene. Depending on how the mission goes, the pilots might suffer injury or death.
The other important type of scene shows how the war is affecting the pilots’ ordinary lives, including their relationships with people they know. Even when a pilot survives a mission, there might be a personal cost that wounds them deeply.
