Die Squadron characters and opponents ("monsters") are all pre-defined on custom cards. Each card denotes the character's Skills (Mêlée, Ranged, Cover, Tactical, and Time). The action of the game involves the characters - all combat specialists - fighting against hordes of goblins. Action resolution uses complex dice rolls using multiple types of specialized dice - three of the dice (Mêlée, Ranged, Cover) have a type of "rock-paper-scissors" relationship to each other. The Tactical and Time dice control the sequence of events in a combat round. The game has a heavy emphasis on tactical combat.
