WHAT IS THIS?
This is Whisper City Pro-Wrestling, a new roleplaying game from Cuss World Books and Games. We are currently sourcing a playtest group to help us refine the rules so that we can get a final First Edition out by summer 2018.
WHAT’S IT ABOUT?
Whisper City Pro-Wrestling is the game of independent circuit professional wrestling set in a post-apocalyptic mill town. Think indie pro-wrestling in a Midwestern city, but with aliens, mutants, and supernatural entities as playable characters and lots of customization options.
HOW DO YOU PLAY?
Whisper City Pro-Wrestling uses the Factor-12 (tm) system for resolution. Factor-12 is a single-die system built around the D12 and working with the idea that a D12 can be used as any die which number of sides is a factor of 12. In other words, a D12 can be used as a D6, a D4, a D3, or even a D2. So, with just one die, you can actually be using 5 dice.
Honestly, the 12-sided die has always been my favorite of the specialty dice, but I felt like it has been pretty under-used in most modern RPGs. There’s the D20 system which everybody knows, a couple game systems just use 6-siders, and so many others rely on percentile dice exclusively. I wanted to showcase the 12-sided die by creating a system around it. That was the genesis of Cuss World Books and Games, to try and make a game system built solely around the D12. Initially it was for novelty’s sake, but I think the system that has developed out of that initial idea is very playable, fast, and fun!
WHO IS THIS FOR?
Whisper City Pro-Wrestling can be for seasoned RPGers who want a light game to play as a one-off alternative to a regular weekly campaign, or it can be used as the basis for a weekly campaign, or it can be a beginner’s game for inexperienced gamers who want to try out a game that has quick, simple rules and doesn’t require a he time investment in character creation.
HOW DOES CHARACTER CREATION WORK?
Whisper City Pro-Wrestling uses Modular Character Design (tm), which operates on a principle of building a character by assembling preset baskets of abilities and skills. A Wrestler Character is built from three Modules: Bio Type, which is the species or race of your character, Wrestler Type, which is the style of wrestling that your character employs, and Intellect Type, which is your character’s specific way of reasoning, interacting with others, and solving problems. Instead of rolling for independent attributes such as strength, wisdom, charisma, etc, Modular Character Design allows you to quickly roll for just three Modules which combine to form a fully-realized and unique Wrestler Character.
Further customization is achieved through selecting specific Finishing Moves, Submission Holds, and of course choosing your character’s costume style and colors, and adding any accessories that you can think of.
