When Human beings finally sought out new destinations within the stars, discovering worlds and starting new colonies to make homes away from the planet Earth, they sadly brought with them the same ambition and greed which brings about crime and the exploitation of others. As colony ships reached out beyond Humanity's own solar system, they were set upon by space-faring pirate vessels belonging to criminal organisations and corporate entities alike who believed that taking things by force was the most efficient way of making a new start. To combat such threats, the IFA (Intergalactic Federal Authority) was created, dispatching frigates to patrol the known galaxy, each with its own individual fighter squadron assigned.
