From website:

Born in Menton in 1981, Olivier Sanfilippo, nicknamed also "Akae", enters the Beaux Arts after a general baccalaureate. However, he stayed only two years before joining the University to indulge his second passion after art: history. His university studies lead him to the doctorate. However he does not give up his first loves and continues to draw in his corner.

This is how he begins to work in many fanzines, webzines and other amateur media in the field of Role Playing (Linzi Manuscripts, Pro-Zine Lance-Feu, etc.) and Literary (Route, Nights of 'Almor, Mead, Chillies and Nutmeg, etc.), especially with the association of' Rokugan's Voice '(Rokugan's Secret Scrolls). These participations will finally allow him to put a foot in the professional edition mainly in the middle game that he particularly likes. Thus it is published for the first time with Anthéas: the archipelago of the peaks in 2008 (Icare ed.). He joined a group of creative artists (writers, illustrators, etc.) Forgesonges and it is thus that he participated in the creation of the Shadows of Esteren (Forgesonges / Agate ed.). In parallel is published the Collection of Demiurges in Herbs (Forgesonges / Icare ed.) That he co-directs. He also worked on games like Alkemy RPG (XII Monkeys / Kraken ed.) And finally released in 2011 Mississippi: Tales of the South Spooky (Forgesonges / XII Monkeys) for which he led the graphic team in addition to illustrating . It was the same year that he was invited for his double cap as a researcher and illustrator to join the first university round table on History in the role play at the National Museum of Education in Rouen where part of his work is exposed. Just two months later, he was honored with the honor of being named winner of the 2012 Franche Zone Young Illustration Prize. He also worked on games like Alkemy RPG (XII Monkeys / Kraken ed.) Also came out a background supplement that he directed for the game The Book of 5 Rings (Edge / AEG), Sunda Mizu Mura as well as Islendigar, a game by Fabien Fernandez (Sphinx Ashes). In 2013 part of his work is exhibited in the city of Bagneux and during the festival Zone Franche 2013. He is also invited to compose a fresco live during the famous festival of Imaginal in Epinal, invitation renewed in 2014 and this year again for the 2015 edition.

He thus works on various personal projects or not as The Gesture of the Gods-Machines (with the author Christophe Valla and Aldo Pappacoda), Chiaroscuro (a game of Aldo Pappacoda) or Wulin (published by Game-Fu ed.). He is also working on the series of several scales to which he has contributed, such as Les Ombres d'Esteren, which is now exported to the English-speaking Shakespear language. Shadows of Esteren won 3 Ennies Award in 2013 including a gold for the prestigious "Best Art Interior" award. He has also been contacted to join the team of many other projects: Yuri X Yurei (Game-Fu), Devastra V3, Insectopia, Venzia (Studio Deadcrows), as well as on the prestigious range of the new edition of the game In Nomine Satanis / Magna Veritas (Raise Dead Editions), etc.

At the same time, he joined the Rolistes Authors' Assistance Group (GEAR), co-directed GRAAL's Role Playing Games at the Cannes International Games Festival, and finally joined the organizers of the Nice-Fictions Festival in 2014. Artistic Director and Head of Exhibitions and Graphics, where he directs exhibitions including the famous illustrator Gilles Francescano (2015) or Cent Alantar (2017). He signed several posters including Octagon 2014 and Nice-Fictions.

2014 is also Olivier's opportunity to diversify his business. He thus signs several covers of novels (Editions du Riez, Netscripteur, Mythologica, etc.) or a giant map for Editions Fei (Voyages to the West) and other projects currently under development (board game, game video, etc.). It also fulfills a child's dream by integrating the team of a project under development at Alderac Entertainment Group.

The year 2015 is rich in promises and projects and thus begins on the hats of wheels. He works for many publishers including the American publisher Alderac Entertainment Group on the Legend of the Five Rings license, one of his dreams of fan and teen!

Today he works for many French or foreign publishers (Chaosium in particular) and continues the projects (The Call of Cthulhu, Vampire: The Age of Darkness, Werewolf: The Apocalypse, Dragons, Cyclades, and others still confidential ...).

His influences are many, especially Asian, with Japan and its great masters of printmaking or animation (Miyazaki), Musha, or European romantic painters. Let's still quote contemporary artists like Sergio Toppi, Briclot, and so many others that he likes. But he acts more generally as a real sponge and passionate about teamwork it is with the illustrators around him (friends or work colleagues) that he draws the most material, Yvan Villeneuve, Willy Favre, LG, etc. .

Update :

On August 5, 2016, the Esteren / Shadows of Esteren Shadows of Esteren supplement, Cartography of Tri-Kazel, received one of the prestigious Ennie Awards in the Best Cartography category. A prize that fills him all the more joy, that he is the designer of the set of 5 giant maps of the cities (Olivier designed, realized all of the inked 5 maps of the cities that were later colorized and layouts with the rest of the creative team).
