Stephen Hickman was an American artist who has been illustrating science fiction and fantasy art since at least the 1970s. He has illustrated over 400 book covers since 1976. In 1996, he created the Cthulhu statuette inspired by an earlier cover illustration. He has provided illustrations for various Iron Crown Enterprise and other game products.
In 1994, he was awarded a Hugo Award from the World Science Fiction Convention for a United States post office booklet of stamps, the first official recognition by the government of the SF genre. He has also earned five Chesley Awards.
Stephen Hickman passed of natural causes July 16, 2021 surrounded by his loving family.
