Senior Concept Artist Daniel Falconer has been a key member of the Weta Workshop crew since 1996, contributing to a wide range of high-profile projects. The Workshop’s resident Tolkien expert, Daniel was instrumental in designing many of the iconic costumes, weapons, props and characters seen in The Lord of the Rings, working closely with artists John Howe and Alan Lee. His film credits also include The Hobbit motion picture trilogy, King Kong, and The Chronicles of Narnia.
In addition to his work for the screen, Daniel has written a number of books for Weta Workshop including The Hobbit Chronicles, The Art of District 9, and 2017’s Middle-earth: From Script to Screen. He serves as art director on Weta Workshop collectibles and has a hand in every Middle-earth release (and plenty more besides).
With a degree in graphic design, majoring in illustration, Daniel is passionate about world design and the development of imaginary cultures and creatures as a means of telling stories.
