A gamer since 1984, Paul Baldowski became a freelance writer in 2004, on the revitalization of the Paranoia franchise.
In the rollercoaster that followed, he wrote Paranoia: The Underplex as a first major solo project before researching Elizabethan vagrancy and bringing the Maelstrom Beggars Companion to the world — something that the world didn't know it needed, but you should really hunt it down and give it a read.
In 2016, on the wave of hacks of The Black Hack, the touch of Lovecraft's Yog-Sothothery summoned The Cthulhu Hack. In the same year, Paul penned the ENnie-nominated The Haunter of the Dark, a guide to deep-delves into Lovecraft's stories as a method for creating new horror investigations. By 2020, The Cthulhu Hack had sold more than 2,000 PDFs and hundreds of physical books and boxes, as well as receiving additional awards - including the UK Games Expo Peoples' Choice Award 2018 for Three Faces of the Wendigo and doubling up with both the Peoples' Choice and Judge's Awards 2019 for Valkyrie 9.
Paul lives in Greater Manchester with his wife, two moderately helpful adult kids, and several pets.
