In his own words from his website:
Who is Nathan Russell?
My name is Nathan Russell and I am a writer, gamer and adventurer. It has been six days since my last game...
I live in Newcastle (the Australian one, about two hours drive north of Sydney) with my wife and two children. I find this arrangement quite satisfactory. I am a teacher by profession, but my real passions are writing and gaming. I have been gaming for about twenty years now, writing a lot longer than that, and hope to continue to do both so long as I can roll dice and mash away at a keyboard.
I love to express myself creatively by drawing on my experiences and passions to create new games, tweak existing rules and write interesting backgrounds for the campaigns I run and play in. This has lead to some wonderful opportunities, including publishing my own game (and hopefully more in the future), speaking on seminars at GenCon OZ and meeting fantastic people from all over the world who share a joy for the things I do. To me, this is the truly great thing about tabletop gaming - it brings people together.
I am incredibly lucky to have an understanding wife and forgiving children who can put up with a grown man who still likes to watch cartoons ("It's anime - not for kids, honest!"), play with toy soldiers ("they're called miniatures...") and play "lets pretend" with his mates ("its role... oh, forget it."). My children have already begun playing games with me, my son keeps taking my dice and losing them and my daughter demands we make up stories about fairies and animals everynight before bed. I couldn't be happier - they're gamers in the making!
Thanks for taking the time to get to know me better.
