Alfonso Mejia Azpiri (born 1947 in Madrid, Spain) is an artist and cartoonist from Spain.

Alfonso Azpiri Mejía (Madrid, 1947), historietista español, que cultiva sobre todo el género de ciencia ficción en series tan famosas como “Lorna” y “Mot”.

Nació en una familia de músicos pero, pese a su formación académica en ese ámbito, acabó decantándose por la historieta, su verdadera vocación.

Publicó a principios de la década de 1970 sus primeras historietas en la revista Trinca, a las que seguirán en 1976 sus colaboraciones en la revista infantil El Acordeón. Tras trabajar para el mercado italiano con obras de carácter erótico, iniciará en 1979 su colaboración con Norma Editorial, desarrollando con el guionista Cidoncha su serie Lorna, también para adultos.

Posteriormente sus obras aparecerán en varias prestigiosas revistas, entre ellas Heavy Metal y Penthouse Comix, y realizaría los diseños de "El caballero del dragón" (1985), de Fernando Colomo.

El 10 de abril de 1988 comienza a publicar en el periódico El País el cómic infantil Mot, que luego sería recopilado en álbumes de gran éxito y adaptado a serie de animación. También crea para esta publicación el personaje de Goomer.

Aparte de sus publicaciones en revistas, su inquietud le lleva en la década de 1980 por otros caminos como los nuevos campos de la informática, haciendo doscientas carátulas para juegos y programas de ordenador de varias compañías contemporáneas de software españolas (Dinamic Software, Topo Soft y Opera Soft, entre otras) entre ellos dos de sus más famosos personajes “Lorna” y “Mot”.

Entre sus trabajos recientes se encuentran la portada de la película Rojo sangre (2004), dirigida por Christian Molina y protagonizada por Paul Naschy, el cartel de la exposición Expocómic 2005 y el de la IX Semana Internacional de Cine Fantástico y de Terror de Estepona 2008. A principios de 2009 fue lanzado "El Muro", cortometraje basado en el relato gráfico homónimo del autor publicado en el volumen Pesadillas II: Otros sueños.

Recientemente Alfonso Azpiri retomó la senda de los 80 para ilustrar un videojuego realizado por Karoshi Corp llamado La Corona Encantada. El videojuego fue presentado dentro de la feria RetroMadrid el 14 de marzo de 2009.

After working for the Italian market with works of an erotic nature, starting in 1979 his collaboration with Norma Editorial, developing with the writer Cidoncha his series Lorna for adults too.

Later his works appear in several prestigious magazines, including Heavy Metal and Penthouse Comix, or do the designs of "Dragon Knight" (1985), by Fernando Colomo.

On April 10, 1988 began to publish in the newspaper El Pais child comic Mot, later collected in successful albums and adapted to animated series. It also creates for this publication Goomer character.

Apart from its magazine publication, their concern leads in the 1980's in other ways and new fields of computer, with two hundred covers for your games and computer programs for several software companies contemporary Spanish (Dinamic Software, Topo Soft and Opera Soft, etc.) including two of his most famous characters, "Lorna" and "Mot."

Among his recent works include the cover of the film Blood Red (2004), directed by Christian Molina and starring Paul Naschy, the exhibition poster Expocómic 2005 and IX of the International Week of Fantastic Cinema and Terror in Estepona 2008 . In early 2009 launched "The Wall", a short film based on the author's graphic account of the same name published in the volume Nightmares II: Other dreams.

Alfonso Azpiri recently returned to the path of the 80 to illustrate a video game by Karoshi Corp called The Enchanted Crown. The game was introduced at the exhibition RetroMadrid on March 14, 2009.
