Alicia Severson is an illustrator and designer currently located in beautiful Bend, Oregon. She enjoys candles, chocolate, Italian food, fashion, reading, cooking, skiing, running, Star Wars, bats and cats.
Alicia uses watercolors, acrylics, and digital to illustrate a variety of subjects and especially loves creating and painting patterns, sparkly things, swirls, and most of all, food. While working on projects, she binge watches movies and tv shows (she is currently watching The X-Files).
When she was young, Alicia watched shows on the Food Network into the wee hours of the morning while working on her art projects. This, her high metabolism (which causes her to constantly think about food), and developing an onion allergy (she has to make most meals from scratch), led to a passion for eating and cooking. In college, at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design, she realized that she felt the same joy for illustrating food as she did for cooking and eating.
She loves the joy, excitement and comfort that food brings people. Everyone has different dietary needs, favorite flavors, and tastes. The thought of a particular food can bring back wonderful memories or bring on cravings. She wants her illustrations to invoke daydreams about that perfect piece of pie at thanksgiving, bring back memories of waking up to the smell of mom cooking bacon, trigger you to stop and buy that delicious five-dollar latte, or just cause you to think “yum! I'm hungry now”.
