Christian Woldmann Griffen (born 1977 in Hamburg, Germany) is an artist and game designer who has contributed to role-playing games.
In 1990, at the age of 13, he discovered "Das Schwarze Auge". He hasn't stopped roleplaying since.
From 1995 on, he was deeply involved in online "freeform" games in CompuServe's RPG forum. This strongly influenced his ideas on roleplaying and game design.
In 2000, he moved to Portland, Oregon, to attend graduate school at Portland State University. He was married to Lisa Griffen, whom he had met in the CompuServe roleplaying forum, and later became a dual citizen. They still reside in the Portland area.
After discovering the Forge, an RPG design and self-publishing forum, he founded Berengad Games together with his wife. They published their first indie roleplaying game, Beast Hunters, in 2007. Beast Hunters was a runner-up for the 2007 Indie Game of the Year and Most Innovative Game awards.
Berengad Games' second game, Anima Prime, was released under a Creative Commons license in 2011.
