Official biography (from the Moon Design Publications website):

Keywords: Collector, Eagle Scout, Father, Guinness Drinker, Auctioneer, Usual Suspect, Canned Ham, Traveller, Trivia Buff, Outgoing.

I got started playing RuneQuest back in the late 70s, with my favorite campaign beingGriffin Mountain. I started collecting roleplaying games, especially anything produced by Chaosium after I graduated from the University of Michigan in 1989. A turning point for me was a last minute decision to attend RQCon 1 in Baltimore. There I met David Cheng, Nick Brooke, Michael O’Brien, and Greg Stafford. As luck would have it, a work trip brought me to London in late 1994, and Nick Brooke introduced me to David Hall and many of the other members of the Reaching Moon Megacorp. I moved to London in 1995 and had the opportunity to help with the publication of Tales of the Reaching Moon as well as assist with the running of the Convulsion 3D convention in 1996. In 1999 Colin Phillips and I founded Moon Design Publications and started publishing the Gloranthan Classics series of RuneQuest reprints. Being an avid game collector, I started helping with the game auctions at Convulsion, RQCon, and the German RQCon/Tentacles conventions.

My Gloranthan writing credits are relatively few, mainly just a few Upland Marsh and Greydog related articles in Tales 19. I documented my Gloranthan collection in theMeints Index to Glorantha, generally referred to as the MiG. It is actually a product guide to all Gloranthan publications, games, conventions, and miniatures produced from 1975 to 1997.

In 2005 Greg Stafford made two decisions that greatly impacted Gloranthan publishing. He licensed the rights to the RuneQuest trademark and 2nd Age Glorantha to Mongoose Publishing. He shortly thereafter licensed the HeroQuest trademark and Glorantha as a whole to Moon Design Publications. Issaries Inc. became, for all intents and purposes, a company for managing its intellectual property, and removed itself from creating and publishing game related material. With the immense assistance of Simon Bray and Mark Galeotti, Moon Design began publishing its first HeroQuest Gloranthan supplements, such as ILH2, Blood Over Gold, and Champions of the Reaching Moon, but running Moon Design as a company was more than I could realistically handle as my “hobby”.

Fortunately, my long time good friend Jeff Richard, newly relocated to Berlin, stepped in, became a partner and joint owner of Moon Design, and turned everything around. With him quickly in place as creative director and main author, Moon Design was able to getHeroQuest 2, Sartar: Kingdom of Heroes, and the Sartar Companion produced. Without him doing so many of the things I could not, Moon Design would not have survived and be as you see it now.

Which leads me to how things are today. My current role in Moon Design is mostly on the production (layout), sales, and administrative side of things. I love using Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and Acrobat to create our publications, and freely admit to being a font geek. I have recently switched from using a PC and love my MacBook Pro laptop.
