Bruce Nesmith created the board game Dragonstrike and did a lot of work on the collectible card game Spellfire. He has an extensive board game collection. His all-time favorite board game is Cosmic Encounters. He is also fond of Star Fleet Battles, Carcassonne, and Space Hulk.
He is one of the most experienced role-playing game writers. He starting in gaming by creating computer games for the TRS-80 and Apple II+. From 1988 until 1995, he was the creative director for TSR. From 1995 until 1998, he worked for Bethesda Softworks as a senior producer. In 2004, he returned to Bethesda Game Studios as the Director of Design and Senior Game Designer.
While at TSR, he did work with Marvel Superheroes, D&D, AD&D (1st and 2nd edition), Gamma World, and Buck Rogers. He is probably best known as the author of the original Ravenloft boxed set. He also did work with Dark Sun, Forgotten Realms, Dragonlance, and Mystara. His hobbies include astronomy, fantasy and science fiction literature, martial arts, and, of course, video games.
