Super hero RPG series by Joshua Kubli.
"Year One Edition" was published on OneBookshelf sites in 2011, followed by Indie Press Revolution, Lulu, Paizo, and CreateSpace. It was available in perfect-bound and case-bound versions from Onebookshelf, and perfect-bound from Lulu and CreateSpace as well. The game was generally well-received, but needed better editing and layout, and made use of a lot of stock art.
"Vigilante Edition" was released in 2014, with many rule revisions and updates, better editing, a new cover, new interior artwork, and streamlined rules. The PDF is available on OneBookshelf sites, and will be available on IPR, Paizo, and Chronicle City. Print distribution is planned from Chronicle City as well.
Both editions use the Cosmology RPG Engine. Actions are resolved by rolling 3d6 + Attribute Level + Basic Talent Level. Advanced Talents either add new tricks, or add a small bonus to rolls. Superhuman attributes add additional dice to the roll.
The game is designed to make character creation fairly simple, while still comprehensive. Characters are created by choosing an Origin, choosing an Awesomeness Level, and then spending Build Points on Attributes, Powers, and Talents.
The game emphasizes versatile Powers. Each Power is extended by Power Enhancements, which add new tricks and applications for the Power. Even a weaker hero has many options. More comprehensive changes can be made with Power Modifiers, but these aren't necessary.
The game also focuses on what it means to be a hero. Each hero has two Motivations, which earn the hero Determination. Determination acts as both action points and as a Sanity stat, and heroes lose Determination by taking actions against their moral codes. Thus, heroes often struggle to find actions to take that don't contravene their moral codes, and interpreting the hero's priorities is an important part of play.
The game has a complete setting, called Earth-Omega. The setting combines many classic elements of comic book worlds. Sometimes these elements take on a darker, or ironic, twist.
