[From the “Editorial” section of Issue 14]
Wyrm’s Footnotes had become an institution at Chaosium. Greg Stafford founded it just after he had designed White Bear & Red Moon and started the company, in 1976. I [Charlie Krank] took over as editor in 1980, and after so much time and energy I am sorry to say that as of this issue, Wyrms Footnotes is no longer going to be published. This long-time favorite of both Gloranthan and RuneQuest fans has become another victim of this era of economic severity. Times are tough. It has become too expensive for Chaosium to publish two magazines.
However, do not mourn its passing overly much. Rather, anticipate that the energy that went into its production will now result in an even greater increase in the number and quality of products which will be available to you. We will continue to publish a wealth of RuneQuest material. The place of the Footnotes will be somewhat filled by an annual or semi-annual RuneQuest aid to be called the RuneQuest Companion. This will be a 96-page supplement with a color cover full of RQ information, scenarios, etc. Though the Companion will be a consecutively numbered series (to aid in keeping track of them) this will not be a magazine and we will not accept subscriptions for it.
