The Great Net Spellbook (GNSB) is a homemade collection and compilation of spells, submitted by fans, for Advanced Dungeons & Dragons (2nd Edition). The book was originally a collection of homemade spells collected from the Usenet group rec.games.frp.dnd. However, as time progressed and the world-wide web became more popular, spells were submitted and collected from a wide variety of sources. Over its considerable lifetime, several individuals have self-identified as the "official" Keeper of the book.
The "Edition 6" version was published in April 1995; subsequently it received various minor updates and was re-published by a variety of other individuals. In 2008 a major effort was undertaken to standardize and re-format the document; this completed in 2009 with the publication of "Edition 6.1"; subsequently it too has been re-published in a few formats.
