(from the back of the book)
Each adventuring party meets various NPCs. While many of them remain a random encounter on the way, in the marketplace or in the tavern, others are valuable informants, sinister opponents, loyal friends, or even unexpected allies: the fat host, in whose tavern the party sleeps, a bloodthirsty Orc robber who waylays the group with his band at the fork on the road or the young girl who is in distress of no own fault and asks for help.
Warriors, Merchants and Cultists provides atmospheric descriptions for more than 60 NPCs, and offers numerous adventure ideas and useful boxed stats, which allow a quick adjustment of the stats to the level of the party. Included are essays on culture-specific use of the NPCs outside of the Middle Empire, and helpful information for the design of NPCs in the game: Lists of names, a detailed overview of personal descriptions and a table with soul animals to design encounters on the spot.
