The LowDie system is designed to be a generic roleplaying game "engine" that minimises dice rolls, mental arithmetic, and complicated derived statistics to speed play up and allow the players to focus on the story being told. However, LowDie does not aim to do this by making things too abstract; instead it attempts to incorporate as many factors into each mechanic as is possible without bogging down play.
Both LowDie System and LowDie System Light! use a mechanic which involves rolling two ten-sided dice, one being designated the 'plus die' and the other the 'minus die'. The dice are cast and the lowest numbered die-roll is chosen, either plus or minus, and the result modifies the appropriate skills/attributes for the task in question.
LowDie System Light! is a simplified version of the system, with a reduced number of attributes and a package-oriented approach to character creation.
