In Evolution - Dare to be God the characters are Gods who administer an "Eden", or paradise. Characters have a "Possibility Rating" of 13. Each player begins with fifty humans which are "blank slates" (in game terms, these are the characters' resources). The game is played in turns called Generations (about 32 years) and follows a structured path.
In play, each character must roll 4d6 against their Possibility Rating to effect change in their population, rolling low indicates success. Characters attempt to advance their population in numbers, technology, learning, and power. Eventually, the population must leave the "Eden" at which point they will encounter the populations of other characters. Conflict ensues.
