From the introduction:
The village of Freyton is a grim place. Most of the year, its rickety hovels are battered by freezing rain. In winter, this turns into snow and ice. The people of Freytown match its surroundings - grim, weather-beaten and humourless, they eke out a living mining iron from the mountains or delivering ice to the more southern cities.
Each adventure book for Legend of the Wayfarer presents a solitaire adventure for use with the game. These proceed, typically, by presenting a paragraph or so of text followed by a test or decision which leads to another page. Each adventure book also has a page of random numbers in case the player is in a location that does not facilitate die rolls.
